Morning everyone :hello:
I'm still in bed!!!:o:o
Woke up with a sore head so OH has banished me to the bedroom until I feel better. :A
I have little to do today anyway. We were planning a foraging expedition but we have gale force winds and horizontal rain so no thanks.
I managed to get some reduced meat yesterday so cooked a small lamb joint last night and will reheat it tonight so just the veggies to do for that. Also made some braised steak in the SC which is now in the fridge for Monday's tea.
May pop out and see my friend for coffee later but I don't fancy driving in this weather so maybe not.
Also want to put together a parcel for Dneice at Uni as she needs some tlc. I save my bogof cosmetics and toiletries for her and all the DVDs which we buy now instead of rent as it's often cheaper.
Happy birthday to Mr Diva.
Get well soon to Essex boy and NPM.
Gert... Mummy saver is right about the buns and I too would do meringues with the egg whites.
Topher... that sounds like my kind of morning if you substitute the Gaurdian for the Herald.
Take care all.

Morning all:wave:
Computer problems here. The switch has broken (we're blaming ds2) so OH has gone to Maplin to buy a bit -don't ask me whatAnyway, as you can probably tell:D we have another computer which usually lives in the roof. It got pensioned off when the boys' pc games became too much for it. I like it though because it is so quiet, the other one sounds like we have a Eurofighter in the house. The boys are hacked off because they can't play games on it.
Soup for lunch I think -leek and potato plus lots of crunchy croutons.
Supper will be spicy lamb pie from the River Cottage Family Cookbook. I shall make extra pastry so that I can make some pasties for the lunchboxes. I found a single serving of kipper kedgeree, and two servings of veg curry in the freezer so they will be pastied.
I will make a pudding too- blackberry and apple crumble probably.
We had a good afternoon at the rugby yesterday- the weather was gorgeous and the Warriors won 24-18:j, with my favourite player Miles Benjamin (he's really fit;)) scoring a try right in front of us-hope the television cameras didn't catch me leaping about with my arms in the air:o
As a lot of you know my dd is allergic to egg. Over the last couple of years she has become much more tolerant of it. She can happily eat cakes and biscuits containing egg.
But I've been a bit wary of giving her things with lightly cooked egg in like pancakes or anything dipped in egg and fried. She started eating mayonnaise from a jar recently and was fine with that so I thought I'd try her on egg and breadcrumbed fish the other day.
I'm very happy to say she was absolutely fine:j. This opens up a whole new range of dinner options for us -little sweetcorn fritters, other vegetable fritters, things fried in egg batters, all sorts of other egg and breadcrumbed things (I have an abundance of breadcrumbs), savoury pancakes and I think custard based puddings may be OK too. I think the only things to avoid now are straight eggs-scrambled, fried, omelette etc.0 -
Morning all,
DH is currently cooking bacon (I suspect to clear his hangover,he has only just got up,and DSs are still asleep)When I took the dog out earlier I found DS1s wallet at the edge of the drive,he must have dropped it getting out of his taxi  Lucky its quiet Sunday morning and no-one else spotted it.
We have some lasagne left, and I cooked a chicken in the Remoska yesterday,so will decide which later.
I picked up 5 balls of Aran wool in for 50p in a charity shop last week so am making a lap blanket, also added some more material to my stash from the new stall on the market,£1 per metre.I got some curtain stuff that I'm going to make shopping bags from.Have been looking for ideas for Christmas pressies that I can make too.
Anyway, bacon is calling, hope everyone is OK & BBs BIL is improving.
Have a good Sunday.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Just been catching up with the end of yesterday's thread. Noahspennilessmummy the pizzas were really good. I made five individual ones from the recipe which used half plain flour and half bread flour so quite economical. I let it rise for several hours while we were at the rugby. It was easy to roll. I must say I liked them thin and crispy with a restrained amount of topping.
I did try the prune, fig and apricot cake using all apricots (450g). We all loved it except dd. It had a lot of marmalade in it which gave it a pronounced flavour. I'm sure you could sub apricot jam for marmalade. I liked the big chunks of fruit in it. I'm going to try it with the prunes and figs too when I've bought some. I'm also going to try and wean the kids off the sulphured apricots and onto the unsulphured brown ones.
Btw, totally off OS mattersI was wondering who are everyone's favourites to win Strictly? (apologies to those who couldn't care less:D). I reckon Ricky Whittle or Ali Bastion. I really like Natalie Cassidy and Tuffers though- hope they do well. Who you rooting for this year Penelope Penguin?

Morning Guys!
I've not read all the posts, so hope all is okay.
Have started having the weekend papers delivered again as I was offered 6 free cinema tickets with no minimum commitment. We usually get the Sunday papers from the local shop but this worked out slightly cheaper and they deliver in the bag before 7am and pay via DD. It was lovely having my breakfast and papers without OH having to go to the shop:D I cant wait till they reduce the size of the weekend papers to the weekly ones as they are difficult to hold:o
Got a chicken out for todays roast and will be serving with big Maris roasties in duck fat, HM yorkies, stuffing, HG carrots, cabbage & peas. DD had boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast so cooked a spare one for my lunch of egg/cress sarnie.
Had an email this morning from Abel & Cole and they are doing 3 for 2 on the fruit and veg, so have ordered 6 different types, eggs, bread, yogurts and a large lentil, goats cheese and spinach pie for under £20. They do a money back guarantee, so if anything isnt to our liking, we can get a refund....so its good as we can try new things and not risk money IYSWIM if its truly awful.
The pan rack looks lovely and I am really pleased with it. Changes the kitchen completely, but in a good way.
DD handed me 2 letters last night from school asking for a combined amount of £58:eek::eek::eek::eek:....this is for her Art GCSE and Geography GCSE. Had 1 the first week back for the triple Science GCSE and that was £29. Luckily, I stick £20pm into a seperate account to cover uniform, trips etc, so will use that as she hasnt needed much uniform this year and her Kickers are still looking smart.
Several hospital visits this week, so may not be able to post much.
Gosh....I am rambling on. Sorry!
Anyway, hugs to all.

I also feel like a bit of a pottering round day.
Just as I was typing my first post on this thead, the sun came out and it was gloriousso I got dressed and decided to go for a bike ride! I rode half hour down the coastal path, stopped for 20minutes to admire the view and read my book. Then I was debating whether or not to carry on or head home, all of a sudden the temperature dropped
So I headed home, and glad I did cos there's just been a few drops of rain! Got the washing in now and it's almost all dry.
I'm going to potter, tidy and make lunch now whilst watching Singapore Grand Prix

Afternoon all.
It's a go-slow Sunday today as my sciatica is starting to flare up and things have to be done gently otherwise it catches, sending shooting pains down my leg. OW! OW! OW!
DD made a very chocolatey, very sweet cake yesterday with her friend. She has made some lovely cakes in her time, but yesterday's has to be one of the best :drool::drool: I was very good and only had a small piece, as I'm watching what I eat. DD felt sick after eating too much - serves her right :rotfl:
I've a beef joint in the SC for dinner today, but I don't really fancy it. I was thinking of making a vegetable flan, but without the cheeseHave already posted to ask if that's possible as I'm not sure.
Nothing much else going on today. DDs are off out with friends at 2, so I can rest up and hope the sciatica doesn't get any worse.
Happy birthday to MrDiva.
