OS Daily Thread - Sunday 27th September

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 27th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all
djtwingo and a belated one to Valli!
Patent - so sorry to hear about your husbands job.
Taplady - I miss Arlene too, though loving Strictly right now.
Redruby - my peppers are just ripening well at the moment. Have eaten loads green but still about the same as you that are waiting to ripen.
Bargain - still praying for your Brother in law
Haribo - glad you had a good day yesterday.
sistercas - how are all the poorlies?
FairyE - how are things with your dad?
Well I didn't get any baking done yesterday after all. It took me just about all day to design and make two cards. I haven't done anything crafty in ages and I think my brain needed warming back up again. First card took forever but the second flowed much more easily. Almost wish I had more to make now I am in the mood! I do feel quite proud of them, especially the New Baby one as I think it is very smart and stylish without being twee.
I almost put the BM on today but we still have half a loaf left from yesterday so no need, but I am dying to try the cheese and onion bread mix we have had in the cupboard for weeks now. I wouldn't mind trying the chelsea buns again today, they may not have looked nice but they tasted rather delicious.
It's my OHs birthday today so what we do with the day once he is up is entirely up to him (It's the birthday rule in our house!), though if he is happy to potter then I will hopefully spend time either tidying up the mess from the crafting yesterday or out in the garden. I bought him a mushroom growing kit for his birthday which I know sounds odd but he asked for it and as I have wanted one for ages I was really pleased to be able to get it!
I hope you all have a peaceful and restful Sunday, and that everyone who is feeling poorly or under the weather feels better soon. Warm gentle
for anyone who wants one!

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Morning MSD and all that follow.
I hope your oh has a good birthday MSD and I'd love a mushroom growing kit!
We got another 1 1/4 lb blackberries in the sunshine yesterday so theres over 4 lbs now in mum's freezer. I'm hoping to make the jelly this week if I don't do any extra shifts. I'm working today-another extra- and will then have done 20.5 in two weeks and I normally only work 16 a week.
We're having roast beef for tea-it was on special in Mr S-with roast pots and veg. I'm thinking of doing yorkshire puds too but if I do I'll be eating them for lunch all week as I have no room in the freezer, so I'd better make loads of onion gravy.
I had hoped that dd would have a lie in this morning but she woke me up 5 minutes before the alarm so she'll be shattered later. I'm hoping mum will get her in the shower as she got ice cream in her hair yesterday and otherwise I'll be giving her one,or a bath, this afternoon as it'll be too late after tea with her being up so early.
Anyway better go and do a few jobs before mum comes.
Hope everyone has a good day.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Morning everyone.
Diva - Happy Birthday to Mr Diva. Good luck with the mushroom kit, everyone I know that's had one has failed to grow any. I mean how hard is it to grow fungus?!
Going to take the kids swimming this morning.
DS seems really clingy today and needing a lot of attention. He's not going through the best phase, bit his dad yesterday and pushed over DD on purpose. Very very very testing at the mo
Have some lovely green leaves growing at the base of a lot of my caulis - I had thought they might have been finished but am pleased to see they are not. Had nbo rain for well over a week (maybe even two) so slugs at the mo aren't really around. Had better be prepared with the slug pellets though when it does otherwise my lovely new leaves will be no more.
Bargainbird - hope for some positive news on your BIL xx
Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all!
Happy birthday to Mr Diva - mushroom kits are great, I bought one for my fil and he put it by the side of the house, unfortunately it was near the bins and the dustbinmen assumed it was rubbish and took it away lol!
Sun just breaking through here, but very nippy, hope it warms up as dd2 has just gone off to spend the day on a friend's boat! Every hopeful, she left clutching her bikini, a towel and a large pot of sun lotion!
Several small children all munching brekkie at the mo - just had to go and get one back in, she was on her scooter whizzing up and down the road, wee bit early to wake up the neighbours me thinks!
OS stuff today will involve usual washing, ironing, hoovering and tidying. Also want to get on with some more baking and batch cooking.
Lunch - no idea!
Dinner - some kind of roast, probably beef.
Have a good day all xx

Morning peeps
another lovely sunny morning today, very cold outside but it will soon warm up. The bedding is out of the washer and on the line - i love to see the garden full of lovely clean white washing, it seems to glow in the sun.
Lots of bits and bobs to do today, i`ve some paperwork to get up to date and then i need to run the lawnmower across the grass, i should have done this yesterday but got a bit preoccupied with the cupboards, maybe later i shall manage to sort another cupboard.
DH will be off fishing soon and is taking both houndies with him so once again it will be just me and little black cat, i shall wash the doggie beds whilst they`re away and should have them dried and put back together for their return tomorrow, might even clean the fridge later
I have lots of plans so even if i achieve half of the things on my list i shall be a happy bunny
I shall make a start.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning all :hello:
It's beautiful here today so will be out on the garden shortly. BM already on.
Dinner today will be chicken then OH can use the rest for sandwiches for the next couple of days.
We went to Stanpit Marsh yesterday birdwatching and taking photos. It's such a lovely area and it felt like a summer's day, so we had a very relaxing time with a picnic. Back to being busy today though - cooking, washing, gardening. Have already meal-planned for the week - gradually getting more organised , just need to remember to get things out of the freezer ahead of time .
Happy birthday to Mr Diva.
Hope everyone is ok, will try and catch up later with threads for the last couple of days.

Morning All
Many Happy Returns Mr MSD
Lovely start to the day again here in Essex, feeling bright & fit so hope to have a very productive day (will be the first one in ages)
1 load of washing about to go on the line another in the wm. Need to shower then will start the ironing which will def get cleared today.
Got to pop over my sis' later to wrap up DS birthday pressies. Will see how his energy levels are today & then decide if he can go back to school tomorrow, if not he wont be able to go to the play centre with his mates.
Once I have got his birthday over with then I can concentrate on Xmas properly although I have already got some bits - mainly courtesy of the Grabbit Board on here, currently awaiting a lovely necklace set from Evans though I am not sure who its for yet :rotfl:
Was meant to be going out for a meal which has now been cancelled so need to decide whether to go out & get some meat or to have a freezer day
Anyway off now - have a great Sunday.x0 -
Good morning everyone, and all those to come
Hope everyone is well. I've woken up with a headache (again), so I'm not going to be long on the computer today. Yesterday I managed to turn a bag of windfalls into the filling for two apple pies of the future, and baked a smashing (the word just came to mind, honestly!) coconut cake. I was going to try and make a novelty birthday pud for my niece's birthday, but something cropped up and I'm not going to now. Another time.
Ugh, so what else on the OSiness front? You know, I'd love a mushroom kit. I think my dad would enjoy it too. Hmm *ponder* I'll have to see about that! We buy so many mushies, it'd definitely be worth itOther OSiness ... I'm now trying to do 15 minutes of yoga a day to try and get into the habit for both fitness and future-proofing my joints a bit more, I've started buying Christmas presents where I can't make them whenever I see offers on something, so I'm really getting organised. Which is nice. We're out today, so lunch will probably be provided and I'll do a pizza for tea if we need anything else to eat later on. Hopefully we'll be back by a reasonable time because I like a bit of time to calm down before work again on Monday morning!
Hope everyone has a lovely day
