What?

Options
All day I've been getting a message up on my screen saying
An unidentified program wants access to your computer.
UNINST.EXE
unidentified publisher

Why??
It mainly happens if I refresh a page, I keep pressing cancel but it keeps coming back...

No idea. My knowledge of computers are very limited.:o
Don't think it is my antivirus (avast)
It's just a square box saying User account control up at the top of the window. I tried to take a screenshot of it buy it wont let me.
  • Download Malwarebytes, update, and run a full scan. (May take a while)

It could be a number of things. As asked, is this warning coming up as a popup window (like an advert? Some "warnings" try and pretend to be proper Windows pop ups to get you to click them).

If you don't already have them installed, download and run free copies of Superantispyware and/or Ant-Malware (http://www.malwarebytes.org), their free versions will pick up and delete 99.9% of malaware and trojans.

Download Malwarebytes, update, and run a full scan. (May take a while)
Should I stop Avast whilst running Malwarebytes? It's been a while since I done this last and I cant remember
  • No it should run ok. I've never stopped my antivirus while running it. It's only an on-demand scanner, so shouldn't be any conflicts.

Nope, I don't tend to download, install or anything else on my laptop. I spend most of my time here on MSE

Edit: Updated Firefox two days ago, but surely that shouldn't have affected anything
