  • Do you still have the same problem if Firefox is uninstalled? Even if it's present on your computer, it will still be in the registry. You could try uninstalling and running CCleaner afterwards to remove all traces.

firefox working ok here, 3.5.2 - updates switched off, no add-ons.
probably a conflict with some other program/spyware on your pc

well it does it the same without any security installed. I'm thinking the problem is Windows and there is no way to fix it without a MS update, which they can't be bothered to fix cause it will force everyone to buy 7 cause it will work then. lol

It just seems strange because it doesn't seem like anyone else is having the same problem. You don't happen to feel like wiping your PC and starting from scratch again?

i just got it with cruddy vista on the D drive as a backup. there are plenty of people on the net that have the same problem, they are scattered in other forums but all come up with no solution

i did wipe the other computer and reinstalled XP and still have the same issue, Thats a totally different system with the same problem. so i have no idea whats going on. unless it is firefox bug thats in 3 amd 3.5.X or an addon then don't know. only thing i use the same is scriptblocker and gmail manager, never bothered with the other little addons.

But what ever the problem is it stops all browsers , opera, Firefox, IE and chrome from accessing the net after a while.

  • The only thing I can think of then is that it might be an add-on. Have you tried running Firefox in no add-ons mode from the start menu?
