    Debt-free and Proud!
    Evening everybody,

Had a really good day today - been for a boat trip round the coast for a friend's 30th. Saw loads of seals and birds and jellyfish and all sorts of exciting stuff. Apparently they sometimes get dolphins too but we never saw any, it was still brilliant though. Such a nice sunny day!

Am going out for dinner tonight as well and then for a few drinks, am exhausted and really can't be bothered going and I can't realy afford it either. It's OH's friend and he is unemployed so if he can stretch to it I suppose we should be able to. It's just going to have to be a quiet October methinks.

So it's not really a very DFW day with petrol, lunch, boat ride, dinner out etc. which I am a bit annoyed about because I didn't know we were going till a couple of days ago and I would have saved up. I'm just going to lay off the drink tonight, save the cash and feel very smug tomorrow when everyone else is dying of a hangover. Hopefully that'll help.

I'm trying not to beat myself up too much - two months ago my whole attitude would have been f*ck it, stick it on a card. The fact that I'm even thinking about it is progress I suppose.

I've taken some bread out of the freezer for breakfast tomorrow at least and I had breakfast at home this morning, so that was something.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good saturday night xx

  • Today I replaced the three missing windows (missing when we moved in last year!) in one of my sheds using a sheet of polycarbonate that had been left in a builder's skip - don't worry, I asked them for it and they were more than pleased to let me have it.

I also had some of the sheet left over, which I gave to mt next door neighbour as she needed a piece for her shed as well. I'd priced up buying three 2ft x 2ft sheets and it would have cost me £20 to £30. :D

doggie.gif make it a bit muckier and it looks like my dog 'peedie' although I've never seen him run this fast

CG you work alot!! - shepherds pie yum yum we are having that tomorrow :)

Give him a bath and he looks like my mum's dog - Basil!

Lasagne wasn't as great as it could be, white sauce was too thick and tasted floury, but I made 2 and no shepherds pie... boooo!

I work a few jobs, got a few debts to repay!!! :p
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • Went to Wetlands locally (mum nicely pays for annual membership) with my 2 children. Spent £2.50 on food to feed ducks - some left over for next time we go. Took picnic lunch.
Went for swim with children: £2.45 me, zero for little one, eldest had swim lesson already then swim after with us.
Returned DVD from last night (using converted clubcard vouchers to get these down to our last 2 - not bad over 5 months I think)
Watched taped Economy Gastronomy - liked the bread making so at present waiting for it to prove. - all ingredients in cupboard
My first posting on DFW so hope I did ok!
  • Saver Sam - you done fine, on this thread we just list all the little things we do that in total all add up. Good luck with the bread making.
    Today I have
    - cleaned my kitchen properly, pulled everything out etc
    - had a lot of pain so a lazy day in bed
    - went food shopping, hopefully it will last us ages
    - used bicarb & vinegar for cleaning the plug holes, cheaper than mr muscle
    - done some washing (on 60 as needed to kill the germs)
    - done the drying outside though
    - did however buy dinner in a cafe, not good, but then i am saving money by not going out last night or tonight (come to think of it, cant remember when i last went out)
    - used same bathwater as OH to save on gas (our water bill is all included, but gas to heat it)
    - might do some ironing now, then can have a housework free day tomorrow
    - using one of them microwave bags for pain and it is also keeping me warm, saving on CH

I am eating my way through my freezer! LOL that sounds awful and makes for some very interesting meals, but I intend to empty my freezer and cupboards before I buy anything else (I allow myself some milk and bread!) I'm always buying things I don't need which is why I have full cupboard and freezer. Once empty I intend to plan my meals a little bit better!

Painted lady - send you a hug - sorry to hear you are in alot of pain
Love the bi-carb and vinegar thingmy - we make volcanos with it - on a tray with the kids and some food colouring - great fun - but I suspect its much more useful to clean drains with it - have written it down to use on the bathroom one! Ta

katy83 - that is great progress - well done you - I got an expense cheque yesterday - normally (even though I had spent the money ie thats why I had an expenses claim coming - anyway - normally this money would have been spent on several things - well over its value and NOW - I am thinking OK that's for the CC - its more than I was expecting - so that's great but its still a bonus for the CC I originally used for the expenses - changed days indeed

bluefuzzybug - this sounds like our house!!! Goodluck...I made list and stuck it to the freezer (well I use a dry white board pen and WRITE it on the freezer........
saver_sam - waves hello you did great and you are in the right place - sounds like a great day outHScurtsey.gif(ok so its a curstey - only thing I can find with pigtails - wearing these today to cheer me up)

Crawleygirl - mines is a cairn terrier - he looks all blotchy like a haggis its not that he's dirty he's just a riot of grey, brown and wierd colours - what type of dog is your mums? When I see westies (the white ones) I tell peedie that's what he will look like if he's actually clean :)
