Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 26th September. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning peeps

i woke at stupid o`clock and couldn`t drop back off again so here i am :D
I`ve made myself comfortable on the sofa with the lappy and a cuppa and i`ve been joined by both houndies who are now both making gentle snoring noises  I am also trying to forget about the racehorse of a spider which was the size of my fist and doing about 20mph across the living room floor

I never managed to read yesterdays thread but have now managed to catch up - yesterday was such a hectic day and today will probably be the same. DH and i both went for eye tests and then caught up on lots of errands. We also managed to get some loft ladders in the homebase sale for a grand total of Just over £28 :T they wont be able to be fixed until the hatch has been altered but still a huge saving for later.

Jayward - Congratulations on your OH`s new job, hope that it leads to something permanent.:j

Mudgekin - Welcome back :hello:

Molly (((HUGS)))) for you

I`ve just finished my mealplan which was a bit of a challenge as once again the freezer list is missing, the up to date one is not accessible at the moment so i think that later i shall brave the cold and just make a new one. The washing is still going around in the machine but the dw has just finished so i shall be emptying that shortly.

Todays plans are mainly to take Dad to the supermarket, cut the grass if the weather is fine (fingers crossed) and sort out yet another cupboard. The ironing is a standby in case the weather is not as nice as i am hoping

I need to make another cuppa and then make a start on my shopping list so i shall be back later to make sure that you are all behaving :D

Have a lovely day peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning OS Chums

Hi Sunny! - I can see you have posted the sticky and are typing so hope you don't mind if I post mine while I wait to read yours!! :p xx

OK, for this weekends song I have found a track that I have always adored. Despite the melancholy lyrics it's a beautiful and haunting. Click HERE to hear it.

Ivy - hope you enjoyed your brothers visit in the end.
Lillibet - so sorry to hear the news about your friends nephew. What a sad thing to happen.
Celyn - I had to laugh at your muffin cooking experience. giggle.gif
Lou - Thank you honey! I like to think I am nearly always cheerful when I start the thread - I am a 'glass half full' kind of girl!
Mudgekin - you are lucky to have heard from Sybil - she doesn't post here any more and we miss her.
Thrift - My OH doesn't get to see Strictly any more as he is working but he is quite happy to watch 'I.T.2'. He says it always makes him laugh.
Bargain - hope your brother continues to heal well.
FairyE - how is your dad doing?
floss and Haribo - not wanting to boast but doing so unashamedly giggle.gif - I have peppers coming out of my ears (not literally I hasten to add! ). I have had peppers on every single plant I grew. However I was later with my chillis so they are playing catch up and a few plants haven't even flowered yet so I may not get anything on them but pepper wise; green, orange and red, I am eating and freezing loads!
Molly - so sorry your daughter has been so unbearable on a day when you definately didn't need it. Hugs to you honey.

Really enjoyed Strictly last night. Am a big fan of Natalie as she so obviously loves it and is trying so hard. Ricky from Hollyoaks is someone I have no knowledge of but he had real natural talent. And Tuffers surprised me with his elegance, though I am not a fan of his. And at LAST, the lovely Anton has a partner who can actually dance!

OS-wise yesterday was a bit sparse though I did do some sorting and tidying of craft stuff. Have to make 2 cards but not inspired.

Todays OS-iness will be to do some baking - have to do Weetabix cake as I bought some cheap wheat biscs and we don't like them, and my OH wants marshmellow toffee crispies. I also need to get out in the garden to pick more of the peppers before they drop off the plants. Also have to nag my OH to give me all his receipts as it is month end and I need to work out the final grocery budget.

I hope everyones weekend starts well. Warm gentle hugs.giffor anyone who wants one!

    Diva.x

Edited to say - Hope you haven't fallen back to sleep Sunny babes, it's been 45 mins now and I am getting lonely! giggle.gifgiggle.gif

    Very early Goodmorning,
I am up so early this morning  Combination of daughter texting me and pain from my injections yesterday. Now I feel and look like Im battered.

It turns out my DD had a sleepover with six of her mates  so not impressed. She basicially got her bad behaviour reinforced = Im a great believer in Pavlovs dog. Anyway it got her out of my face before either of us did any serious harm.

Well its very comforting to see Im not up on my own. I dont have any great plans today. More washing  Im going to start this group - "my journey to well being". Again my kids dad is driving me and whilst Im there is going to get some bits of shopping for me. He has been so kind and supportive. I really miss him when he goes - hey Im vulnerable at the moment so no life chamging decisions but he is one of my best friends.

Hope everyone ok. Again I want to say thanks for allyour supportive comments yesterday and today. Its very much appreciated.

Love and hugs for a great weekend,
    Mollyxxx

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Hi Molly honey - Soooo glad someone else is up this early! Tris hasn't logged on yet and I am at a loose end.

Am sorry you are feeling so battered today but fully applaud you sending your daughter out of your face when you were feeling low, at least it meant you could relax a little. And I think it is great that you and your ex can be such good friends. I am sure there were very good reasons for you breaking up, but the fact that you have stayed friends is a real achievement when so many do not. Hugs to you honey.

Sunny - Yayyyy there you are!! I just had a spider moment that freaked me out too. I have bandages on one leg and I happened to look down cos the cat was fussing and a bl00dy big spider was sat on my foot. GOD did I yell. Didn't know I could still move that fast! *shudders*

Lol nope Diva i`m still here, i thought that the dw had finished but heard a strange noise so went to investigate before i had finished, there was a plastic lid which had become damaged and stuck between the top rack and the arm so i sorted that out and then absent mindedly boiled a kettle of water and cleaned the work surfaces before coming back into the living room and hitting the submit button :rotfl:
I`m not sure whether it`s an extreme form of multi tasking with a small flaw or whether i`m just getting older and more forgetful :D think i shall go with the first option :D

I just had to come back and use the laptop as I couldn't settle in the Office room knowing the big spider was lurking..

Have just set the BM going so that will be ready by lunchtime when we need it for sandwiches.

    Hi MSD,
Thankyou for your kind words. I love your posts they are always so interesting to read.

I fell aslepp on the sofa and woke up with my two doggies snuggled in to me - one in my tummy and one in my back. It was so comfortable and they were also snoring their head off like yours Sunnyday. The are hilarious when they dream - woofing gently and their paws "walking".
Anyway another cuppa and some breakfast.

    Lots of love,
    Mollyxxx

    Morning :hello:

    I really love Lilly Allen's F*** You :D;)

I've hardly slept all week  Hope I'm not back to all that again. I'm armed with sleeping pills, just in case :D There's been no OS this week, it was a huge achievement just to get the washing up done and the animals cleaned out every day

I haven't managed to make any of my Christmassy things yet. I've penciled it in for next week :D There's a huge willow tree opposite us, growing behind the hedge. Normally I wouldn't dream of cutting down something that's growing (if it's not mine) but there's a branch that's grown at a 90 degree angle, straight through the hedge and will be on the road soon if someone doesn't sort it out. So obviously, I will need to show some community spirit by cutting it off :D That'll make about 10 wreaths. I've kept all the stones from foraged damsons (idea from The Tightwad Gazette) and I can get my hands on some free holly (with berries) :j

We went foraging yesterday, but didn't get much. Most of it has gone now. On the way home we found a fab butcher, so today I'll be roasting a chicken and a gammon :D Need to clean out the chickens, the rabbit and the boy piggies too.

We've reached our target of 250lb of homegrown food - we've managed 254lb - and we haven't picked it all yet :D

  • Good morning!
It looks lovely here but cold and I've had to put the heating on for half an hour-must go and turn it off. First load is in the WM and another sorted to do. I was very tired last night so recorded strictly but don't know if I'll get time to watch it before tonights.
Lunch for me today is some left over tortilla I made the other day with onions, potato, mushrooms, peppers, salami and cheese. It was lovely. I have some HM coleslaw as well and am hoping to make my first HM bread today-possibly following the EG recipe unless someone has a better one?
I don't know what dd'll have-probably beans, chees or egg on toast.
Off to mums this afternoon to do our last blackberrying and for tea-hoping its lamb but she didn't say what she was getting.
Sorry to hear about your OH job Patentgirl.
Hope you feel better today Molly.
Hugs to all that need one.

  • Morning All

Am so glad its Saturday :j bit chilly at the moment but believe its gonna to be lovely later :T

Had a horrible day yesterday was either on the phone with work problems or sorting DS, got nothing else whatsover done  So today will be catching up with washing & ironing and trying to forget the fact that on Monday I have a nightmare in my office to deal with.

DS is much improved just has no energy whatsoever. We were meant to be having family over today for his birthday but they dont want to risk the flu as my mum has emphysma (sp). Was also meant to see the inlaws sunday but they are going on a cruise in 2 weeks so dont want to get the flu either.

So dinner plans for tonight need changing - will need to have a route around in the freezer. Must menu plan for next week and start a shopping list.

Gonna enjoy a coffee and a nice surf around the boards then get on.
    Have a great Saturday all.

Oh & will deffo have a good hoover around today in case there are any spiders lurking:eek:
