Hi
I need to find a braclet so that medical information can be written on a piece of paper and held in the bracelet.

Paper because her medication changes depending on her current condition.

Please can someone help. Done a google search but mainly see bling items or ones that have engraving on them. As she is not interested in a bling item and ££££ are at a premium we just need a bog standard item.

Thanks in anticipation :o

  • Something like this?? There's a few different ones on e-bay and you might pick up more of a bargain. Google will give you more suppliers as well :)

Presumably it has to be a bracelet for when she's out of the house?

I've seen a sort of medicine bottle you can keep in the fridge at home, then you have a sticker to put in your window to say it's there. It's kept in the fridge even though it doesn't need to be, because a fridge is (usually) obviously a fridge, rather than some random cupboard.

But I'm just wondering whether an engraved bracelet saying "Look at bottle in my bag" would be easier to keep updated?

    Hi Savvy-Sue
We need something she cannot 'forget' to wear - personally I'm for welding it to her wrist.
It is remembering part she has a problem with and with a few handbags on the go I can foresee problems. Also a bracelet would be more obvious both to the medics and her. My partners mum is very independant and has recently started to join clubs - fantastic at 90, a bit of an inspirational character really.

However, she took off her saftey neck button thing, as in her words 'I don't need it at night', then decided to change the bedding???? , went to put it in the washing machine and fell down stairs. She lay at the bottom of the stairs till neighbours spotted that the curtains were still closed at 8:30. 6 months on we still check that she is wearing it (for bed and going out).
Good suggestion for the house though - other family members could check that it is up to date when we are away.

  • When i was looking for one for my daughter i thought they seemed rather expensive, especially for a child who could easily lose it. So i bought a dog ID thing it only cost me £1 in Tesco it has paper inside and a screw on cap. Our epilepsy nurse was so impressed shes telling all her children now. We put ours on a necklace and its really quite distinctive. When i was explaining to her class teacher because they have a no jewellery policy at school she said its obviously not a fashion accessory and would be fine.

I'm very interested in getting something like this but have a problem with a metal allergy. I had a bracelet some years back -ideal with details of GP, next of kin, medication etc.. but then I developed this allergy to metal and can only wear plastic or fabric -like swatch watches.............is there anything like that on the market ?
Most of those on the links look like they'd be some sort of metal that would touch the skin.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I have seen plastic containers for swimming, they won't look anything like a piece of jewelry but might do the job? Typically I can't find what I mean quickly, but they are a sort of hard plastic case on a neck cord.

OR, could you get a metal tag engraved and sew it to a cloth strap?

OK, I've found the kind of thing I'm thinking of here. I am sure I have seen slightly smaller too, just can't think where ...

savvy sue - thanks. There must be some smaller ones around I'm sure. Just knowing where to look. I don't want anything too bulky if you know what I mean
