To be honest I'm really going for ease of use. So far I've found QuoteTracker quite awkward, and I haven't been able to do what I want with it immediately. It's really the charting part I'm interested in, and the good thing about this one is that it's very easy to use and you can import your own data in as well.
I'm not planning to daytrade so I'm happy with EOD analysis. I'm only at the first stage of formulating a paper trade plan so please bare with my amateur ways
Now I've got to find an easy way of picking my 6 "paper" stocks - yeah I know, no such thing as an easy way!0 -
If your looking for stocks to invest in rather then trade so much then look for growing markets both in product development but also in country, alot of ftse stocks are based abroad even tesco has asian stores.
Theres a stock screener on www.iii.co.uk I think and also look at www.digitallook.com
www.Bigcharts.com will show you data all the way back to 1990 Ive found sometimes even for british stocks and it has a record of what price everyone bought at. So you can see the most popular price, obviously alot of people use stop losses so rapid movement happens round these points.
Top indicator - price by volume will show this and its not on other websites normally
note this is turnover not profit, not always strictly accurate but easy to see0 -
Finally found the very thing I was after: ProRealTime - finding it very intuitive.
Thanks for the info. Am actually planning to trade rather than invest, but just not day trade. I've read some books and now I'm "practicing" on paper as it were. spent the whole evening practicing TA. Might go for my first paper trade soon if the time is right! One year of paper, learning, correcting and improving before I even THINK about putting real money into it.
Thanks for all help and advice.0 -
ProRealTime looks pretty good, I might well have a look. So if I'm reading it correctly they have free EOD data on all the markets they cover?
EDIT to answer my own question yes they do. World indices, futures, FX etc. Good find padzster! The auto trend detection thing looks very useful. I'm sure I've seen the software before - its very similar to IG Markets advanced charting program. IIRC they charge £30 a month for it (albeit with real time).0 -
Didn't realize ProRealTime were doing a free offer, looks pretty good. From a quick look, I would suggest that if you ever decide to use realtime data, shop around, that side of it looks pricey at first glance.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Came across this, it's only for US stocks, but I know some here keep an eye on them, haven't tried it during market hours, but I'm sure if someone is interested they can give it a go.

Yea Ive seen that website described but it wont work for me. Looks great, I thought they had restricted it to america only maybe but if you can use it then guess its something else probably my firewall which Ive already tried once
Alot of TA done on videos here, ' good looking charts'. He looks 12 but seems a good explanation to me

You need the Microsoft Silverlight plugin for the freestockcharts site. Might be it?
I like ProRealTime at the moment, have you tried that Sabre? Its got some nice features.
Interesting video BTW0 -

This link seems to give a quick reference on chart patterns and then further explanation should you spot one in the wild
