OK. After your encouraging posts re the software, I've decided to give it another try. So far so good. The intaday chart is working nicely. BUT the historical chart is definitely not. It's OK when I use one of the other charts like BigCharts, but the default historical just has a few random vertical lines on it.
Slowly getting used to the software though...
No problem. If it works for you use it, if not then it hasn't cost you anything! Not sure what the issue is with historic charts. Like I said, its probably a problem with the data source. Try another one maybe. Here is a screengrab I've just done showing a long term chart (STAN - monthly bars, 7 years) just to prove they do work.
To the right there is the Historic Data window (right click a chart, choose Historic Data for .....) showing open, high, low, close and volume for every day. In this case it goes back to 1994. I suspect if you're getting rubbish charts there's probably big chunks of data missing. Try clearing the chart data and re-downloading.0 -
Mine is working ok today, ftse is below vwap which is a sign of weakness. Ive even got SL working by adding a . to the end though I had already tried that its worked today with advfn
historial charts Ive got bigcharts historical as the source and in that case you need to put a uk in front so for standard life its
sl. intraday
uk:sl historical
Each source will vary in its reference to a share so you might need multiple portfolio for the same shares with different symbols on each.
Cant backfill on intraday for free, which means sometimes the chart cant be fixed if it has errors
I'll need to find a british etf (in dollars?) that follows the sp500 in the same way so I can track that from a uk only source
Bob, I'd be most interested in seeing intraday detail in the data/graph over a month say. That'd be something above and beyond the freebie stuff
That chartered graph is pretty impressive to see and they are still a buy even after that rise so Ive read anyway0 -

I'm not sure I can do that. It can backfill up to 5 days of intraday, and you can make a chart with up to 10 days worth. If I left it logged on every day all day for a month, it might save it somewhere, but you couldn't make a month long intraday chart..
Yes, Standard Chartered were less hammered than most banks - I considered buying around April IIRC. There was lots of value around then but now its more difficult to find...0 -

Try the "Re-Login" button next to the Buy, Cover buttons, otherwise I have no idea. UK markets closed now.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Or File...Select Quote Server...Force re-login (I haven't got the buy/cover buttons as I haven't got a trading account linked to it).0

The Force re-login seems to have worked.
Now can you tell me why I don't get any data for CSCO please?0 -

The same problem would be the source data, this one looks ok but eod is end of day so its free because they dont provide intra day data, its not any better then what you've got really or just a website like yahooEODData.com
