If true, here is a simple question
Why would an arrears case from CSA 1 be sent to Jobcentre Plus in 2009
Case closed 2005.. the Case is on a IMA, it is not because i did not comply0 -

I'm not sure to be honest. Was your case being dealt with at Bolton? Were all arrears cleared etc or were we still collecting them?0 -
Hi cscoobs,
My husband has been told that he has to pay by either DEO or direct pay as his case has gone clerical. Is this true? He has been paying through the CSA via standing order for ages. There are no arrears.

They've never started collecting. My daughter is 24
Paid her directly, supplying proof now.
Trouble is my ex never let them know, was on benefits and quite happily took the money. I have the receipts but it is now being claimed it is classed as "pocket money". The IMA was sent to a wrong address back in 1996. I have my Data Protection files no attempt to contact me since 2001 and even before then it was half hearted.
Your systems get triggered when a debt hits £50,000 and thats the only reason why you are now chasing (not you personally). A lot of NRP's don;t care less about there children, but I do. I am not prepared to let the CSA know all the ins and outs of what I am doing now, it should have concerned themselves before, not wait until my daughter is 24. Only, heard of any action, because a former friend was threatened with baliff action last year.
Now the case has sent to job-centre plus for action. The DP files show a figure of £4,000 for "Liable debt", but they continue to try and chase £42,000 (25k is on a liability order).
Its Not Bolton, but presumably you can tell us how these things work?0 -

If his case is being dealt with by Bolton a Standing Order is no problem. He can just call up and ask for whoever he gets through to too send a standing order mandate out too him through the post. Or he can just call up when the payment is due and make it over the phone with a credit or debit card.
Hope this helps.0 -

To be honest the procedure for clerical cases and non-clerical cases do differ quite a bit and i'm not really trained to know the ins and outs of how a non-clerical case works.
If you paid the money directly to your ex partner for the child then i can't see why it would be a problem. Problems do start cropping up if you pay directly to the child though i believe.
So are you saying that the case has been running for a long time without your knowledge and you were just happily paying the money directly? I suppose it would just come down to whether you can prove they never notified you. But I'm purely speculating there.0 -
Thanks very much for the reply. problem is many Nrp's are being chased for arrears they knew nothing about, because it has been forgotten or simply the CSA have left it all this time. The govt I do believe offer bonuses to staff who get something done on these cases and they have fallen so far behind on longstanding arrears, it is seen as probably the best way to try and balance the books, because huge figures are involved.
I know this is not your remit, but it makes mine and other people;s life hell, because they are intimidated to pay or threatened with legal action and in many cases, the NRP cannot get a lawyer to hel;p them.
I understand cases like this are probably not what you deal with on a day to day basis, but it does happen. Of course where the PWC is owed money it is quite right you should chase, but some of these cases are over 15 years old.0 -
On a seperate note, which might be more in line with the cases you work on.
My son is on around £300 gross a week and works at the post office. They have bassed his 15% on last years earnings and are taking £55 per week. We have asked them to look at his case, but they say we have to wait 52 weeks. The case opened in june this year and he has now sent 10 wage slips in total and the figure should be around £38-£40 per week, but they have yet to reduce it, saying he has to wait 52 weeks.
In your experience, why is this?0 -
The child supprt agency was originally set up to releive the pressure on the courts and chase those NRP's that refused to pay maintanance for the children , But it has become quite apparent over recent years that the child support agency are conconetrating there efforts on persecuting the NRP's that are paying for there children . Is this because its easier to boost there statistics by concentrating on sitting ducks than it is to do the job they were set up to do in the first place and that is to locate NRP's that refused to pay.
Why does the CSA make everybody believe that they endorse private agreements but ignore there existance when it comes to collecting arrears ? even though they send out documents saying they are aware that the agreements in place .
Why do CSA say that children are not entitled to provision unless the CSA gives permission for it
Why does the secretary of state help himself to NRP's maintenance payments when the PWC has a private case.
Why do CSA agents say they have sent out warning letters when they have not .
Why is it when you write to the CSA with your address at the top of the letter they respond to a different address?
Why is when an NRP challenges the CSA decision they become referred to as non compliant?
Why is it when we phone the CSA the person we want to speak to is nearly always on sick or on holiday. But when you phone back the same day the person you want to speak to answers the phone?
Why do the agents tell lies over the phone why do they pass the buck why do cases get moved around from office to office to office when there is a problem?
Why do vital documents get lost ?
why does every person at the csa give a different amount when asked to work out figures
Why does it take months and sometimes years to recognise qualifying children?
why does it take the ICE team to secure provision for certain children?
Why is the computer still used when cases are clerical?
Why does information from clerical cases not get put on to the computer .
Why does it say in the booklet that the CSA are able to deal with cases of multiple parents and children but the CSA agents or computer are unable to?
Why do the CSA lie about the powers they have to enforce when they have to send cases to the M court for enforcement action .
Why do NRP's that have been providing provision for there children get DEO's when they Dispute arrears .I only speak of my own experiences. and research that i have carried out whilst dealing with my own case with the child support agency0 -
Thanks, his case is at Stockport. He has arranged to pay his ex direct but we would prefer not to do this. The lady we spoke to at Stockport said they were the only 2 options. If his case is being dealt with by Bolton a Standing Order is no problem. He can just call up and ask for whoever he gets through to too send a standing order mandate out too him through the post.
