If this has been posted before apologies ! - if not, read on

"This site is about TV Licensing™ (the "television licensing authority") . . .
. . . and how they treat those who do not have television."
NOT those who refuse to pay - they deserve all they get !0 -
No-one 'needs' a licence, everyone chooses to have one. If by 'need' you mean do I watch T.V., then yes I would like to buy one, if I felt it was reasonably priced and the company were fair in how they dealt with potential customers, instead of assuming everyone is watching T.V. and scaring people who don't actually need a licence into buying one. I do miss watching certain programmes, and did used to watch T.V. when I had a licence. And now the DVD collection is getting repeated many times . However, I refuse to buy one, and as such have to go without T.V. I admit I haven't found going without T.V. too difficult, as I didn't watch it much in the first place. But its worth it not to be paying 150 pound to this company.
You are correct no one "needs"a licence.
Indeed the licence is become harder to justify IMHO0 -

I don't have a TV, nor a TV licence. All correspondence from TVL is filed in the bin, and I simply close the door in their face without comment on the rare occasion that they have called.
I am under no obligation to engage in dialogue with them, and so chose not to.
They've given up now, and haven't contacted me in over 18 months0 -
I havnt read all of the posts but this is what I would do. Write to them, expalin your situation, invite them to visit at a mutually convenient time, advise them after this time you that you would consider further contact as harrasment and would take legal action to prevent further harrasment. Send it recorded delivery and keep a copy0

You are under no obligation to prove your innocence to them. Ignore their computer generated letters and close the door on the licence inspector without comment - they have no right to "inspect" your home any more than I do.
Once you engage in any form of correspondence / dialogue with them, they will continue to pester you0 -
I would have thought that once you have warned them of harrasment then if they continued you could get a court order to stop0
