Yes I think I have to agree with you, Chocolate fireguard syndrome:mad:0

So when we can't make payments online to and from our accounts, we will start incurring penalties - for those of us who leave it to the last possible opportunity in order to maximise our profit to make payments to other accounts, what's the line of attack for a "solely" internet bank, when you can't reach it either way?0

Still not available - let's flood them with complaints and ask what compensation they will offer. This is crap, I can understand some periods of downtime, but this is now out of order. What sort of DR do they have?? What's really happened?0

It was unavailable for 3 days for me, very frustrating and when I rang them up they said they were working on it...uhm yeah...it took 3 days! And the people I spoke to were absolutely useless when I asked them to check how much my DD was going to be this month. First they gave me the minimum amount I could pay, then when I explained that I pay in full each month, then they gave me the full amount I owe so far so yet again I had to explain that I pay in full what I spent the month before, so they put me on hold for 5 mins to work it out grrrr... useless people!0

I'm genuinely surprised that it has been down for this long. Frustrations aside, it would be interesting to know exactly why this is happening. Fire, flood, huge power surge, who knows.
Is there anyone here with inside knowledge of just what a bank's webserver involves? I don't know the first thing about it, but I'd imagine that the whole setup is mirrored across at least two locations, so that if there is a catastrophic issue at one location then another can spring into life. I don't know what Eggs set up is, but yes that is a usually disaster recovery plan. A mirrored server is usually called a 'hot server' and should be switched to once problems occur.
Seems either egg don't have any disaster recovery / don't have a hot or mirrored server or both the original and disaster revovery servers have had problems.
Does anyone know if this months DD will be taken as normal. Mine is due to go out on the 16th (Tuesday - paid in full) - however I don't know how much it will be as I can't access my Egg Money card details.
