so long as the council tax bill is in YOUR sole name only and car registerd to hubby then NO.
it would be the same as if I had popped round to your house for a cuppa and parked MY car on your drive. then they would have a fight on there hands lol

  • Hi,

I don't think you should be taring your hair out with worry; The bailiffs just send letters, and reminders, and removal notices etc... to make people more aware of what can or will happen if they don't receive any response to their correspondance, or if poeple fail to arrange or make any payments.

We've received several letters from them, we even had someone come and write down things they would take if they had to... and trust me it was not nice; But the bottom line is we've still got our belongings, and i've always replied to the letters and now set up a payment plan.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask if u need any further help or advice. :)

Not sure if this is any help but according to an old letter I have from Marstons they can charge you for a HPI check on a vehicle. At the time I queried this and asked how they knew which vehicle to check as I lived in a terraced house. The girl in the office said they would assume a car outside my house was mine until they had done the check but could not clarify how many checks they would do. Not sure if other companies do this.

Although it is Council Tax, is it only in your name? Usually a couple are 'jointly and severally liable' ~I think that's the terminology.

It's far easier to deal with the Local Authority and if it is passed back to them, they will usually make an arrangement.

It sort of made me chuckle at the thought of them doing checks on any of the 8 or 9 cars that could be parked outside my house, but then annoyed that they may be able to add that to the charges.
