Think Im going to go for the Save online tariff, will probably ring and enquire about it tomorrow. I dont want to change suppliers as I changed from N Power last Sept 08 to Eon because of the price protection and am not convinced it saved me very much money as I somehow I ended up after a couple of months with £150 arrears and its taken me until now to get back into credit. Thanks everyone for your help.:T:T

Yes i agree.I am going to switch to saveonline tariff too on Thursday.I have been told i can easily do it on line. The prices seem okay, with a good discount, and i cant see any penalty for exiting so if prices do fall then a switch should be easy either with Eon or another supplier.;)

I went to to Save Online too. The Fix-deal is indeed cheaper as things stand but with all those discounts (which I find confusing -can't EON just lower the unit charge instead of keeping it at a certain level and then adding what look like a million separate discount tags?), plus the exit fee, plus the fact that yes, I am hoping prices will come down ()... well, I felt Save Online was better for me.

    Just my two pence!

    Now what do i do?

Have just phoned Eon and changed my tariff to Save Online no standing charge. Hope Ive done the right thing but would like to mention that the cancellation charge on Fix online for £30 is actually £60 as its £30 for gas and £30 for electricity if you are dual fuelled.

The lady I spoke to firstly told me I wouldnt get charged on Fix Online if I changed tariff only if I changed supplier, I then said "are you sure?" so she said she would check she came back to me and said that although it was in their terms and conditions to charge this cancellation charge, they wouldnt actually charge it if I just changed tariff:confused::confused: I am not sure how they would administer this as in 6 months time should anyone decide to change tariff would they remember what they had previously said at that point (if you understand me).

Fingers crossed for prices going down!!!!!!!

Eon won`t charge you if you change to one of their other tariffs. You will only be charged if you move to another supplier. The representatives have said it several times on other posts and I`m sure it states that in my T&C`s when I changed to the fixonline.
  • See posts 11 and 12......they will charge if you come off their fixonline tariff to another of their tariffs.I have had it confirmed by EON and it is in the t & c's

For the avoidance of doubt, it is in the T's & C's in Balck & White that they WILL charge the fee IF YOU CHANGE EON TARIFF before the fix end date, which is 1/12/10.

So, it's up to you whether you believe what's in the contract, or what a call centre worker tells you on the phone. I'm believing the Contract!

This staff confusion may be because of how EON are treating people coming off the old fixed plans at the moment where, in the last month or so, they are letting people change without charge even though the end date had not been quite reached. EON have stated in response to me in other posts that, however, they cannot be certain at this time whether they will take the same approach with Fix Online 3 in November 2010.

What is fairly certain however is that if you sign up for Fix Online 3 and then decide to change tariffs next spring they will charge you for the priviledge.....

Yup I read it properly and it says "may". oh well. The discounts are decent. It would be interesting to see if they really do charge the exit fee and what they would do if someone just didn't pay it.
