I may have the room finished next week, finally. Don't know. I've only been waiting since Boxing Day when he started!

  • I'm just doing my bedroom at the moment- have got very dark purple wallpaper with big metallic flowers in..er..sort of metallic mink colour. It's lovely- honest, it's a Sanderson one. One the other walls above the dado I have got Dulux Soft Montelimar 1- one that you get mixed up. Think of black cherry yoghurt! The picture rail is Craig & Rose White Gold metallic, and below the rail is Dulux Iced Frappe.

I have got some dark lime silk cushions for the bed, with purple piping (TK Maxx) as a contrast. I'm struggling for bedding- want purple SuperKing, fairly plain- what have you chosen bargainbasement?

If you have a Dulux decorating centre near you, I really recommend it; you get mixers made up, about £3 each, but when you buy the corresponding paint, you get a refund on the tester. The paint is thicker than DIY store standard, more pigment in it, and you can also get a 10% discount card, and Nectar Points too.

  • after going through nearly all dulux tester pots we have decided on 'perfectly taupe' Hubby is painting as I type.

Smithills - for bedding i am just having plain white with blanket and cushions made to match the roman blinds and pelmets I am getting made (to match the purpley/plummy wallpaper). I have two wallpapers in mind one is this one http://www.grahambrown.com/us/product/57183/Palace+%3A+Purple+Wallpaper/0?show= and the other one is from focus (alot cheaper!) and is a similar purple but with flowers - looks like it is raised pattern if you get my drift. Then I am having a crystal chandelier and a cream carpet.

    Thoughts?
  • here is the one from Focus. I like the Graham and Brown cos I think it looks classy but I like the raised effect on the Focus one. Would appreciate your opinion!

I have perfectly taupe in my lounge :)

Have you got samples up of both on the wall? I think I'd choose the Focus one to break up the pattern a bit - the Graham and Brown is very repetitive - if you tape a decent amount up on the wall you should get an idea of whether the repeat is the right sort of size for your wall.

You can change the colours as much as you like, no tester pots needed so it's free!!
