Hi, i want to do my bedroom hotel style I love Mal Maison deep colours. Haven't got a huge bedroom so decide to have one wall wallpapered deep purple mock flock type wallpaper and to paint the rest of the walls and accent with deep purple blinds and cushions etc. However I am struggling with what colour to go with the deep purple/plummy wallpaper. People say 'cream' but what shade I have about 6 tester pots and don't like any they just seem too wishy washy. I thought about a stone colour (natural hessian) but majority of our house is this shade with cream and browns so want something different. considered a grey colour but again dunno what shade as blues/greys can look cold.
Any help from budding interior designers please!!!

With "pale cashmere" on the woodwork and ceiling.

My bed wall and chimney breast are painted in Fired Earth Caaragheen - which is a gorgeous deep purple.

I wanted the look of a hotel - I'm not showing you a picture as my curtains and carpets aren't in and I still haven't put my new bed clothes on as I don't want to do it until everything else is in (next week hopefully)! But if you do want a hotel look then you have to be bold with your colouring - cream is not really going to cut it with a deep purple. You need something rich to hold it against.
If you're brave enough to go with that purple then you're brave enough to choose something dark. When the deisgners at Malmaison are doing their mood boards, they really don't think "mm, cream" to play safe.
Also, does it really matter what colour the rest of the house is? I mean dark truffle is a neutral, and you will need a neutral to stop it from looking like an asylum, but don't be afraid of what is in other rooms. Your bedroom is your haven and it should be the way that you want it. And you're not exactly having dinner parties in there where people are testing the 'flow' of the house.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

My daughter`s room is purple/lilac-the walls, carpet, bedding and ceiling light.
She has bright red rugs, picture frames, curtains and bedside light.
We both think it looks great. It was a bit of a `fingers crossed` decision to do it but we`re glad we did. Her friends think it`s funky. She is 16.
If you`re brave then I would certainly urge you to think about it. It`s warm, stylish, sensuous and stunning.

Thanks all, hubby is down B&Q now he is getting more testers! Eqyptian Cotton and Smooth Slate, hopefully one of these will be okay, the testers are never the colour they look on the chart!0

I like Egyptian cotton. It is kind of greyish in colour but looks lovely in a room.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
