Phone 0800 587 5252 and ask to 'Opt out from TTS converted SMS'Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You cannot opt out of reverse charges but as another poster stated, you have to accept each call - so dont accept them (and tell your daughter not to unless she wants to pay for them
)

Since I moved house in Feb keeping same number I have several on these, wo just today. I am sick to death of nuisance calls whether its a flaming call centre and now this. I have done all I can not to have my tel number published I am ex directory and also off the list of tps.
I refuse point blank to line any of there pockets.0 -
Thanks but you cant see to opt out now, it says I am opted in, I havent opted for this but they take it you have be default. All it says is 1. to change the curfew of these messages.
Okay best thing is I can enable nuisance calls assigned to a ring tone on my phone so that and all other call centres numbers I have been plaugered by I have added them to a awful ring tone.If you have a BT line, you can permanently opt out of this 'service' for no charge.

my phone has been ringing all morning, when i answer it it says you are being transferred to our messenger service is this one of those dodgy premium rate things the no is
08456021111
anybody recognise this.
It's just a way of retreiving SMS phrough your landline. The service is run by BT as they own all the exchanges etc even if you are on NTL or another provider. There is often a long delay in receiving the message after sending which is why it can ring you at some odd hours. It will tell you the number of the (mobile) phone that it originated from and you can work out from that who sent the text. This is NOT a scam however it might be possible for a scamming company to text you and ask you to ring a premium rate number but as long as you stay away from 090...... then you will be fine.0 -

Our solution to unwanted callers, including the dreaded telesales companies, was to install a BT digital answering machine that is left on 24/7, but can be disabled at the push of a button.
Everyone who calls us hears my greetings message ... "You have connected with xxxxxx and David xxxxxxx. We do not accept calls from telesales companies, but all other callers are most welcome. If you announce yourself after the tone, we will pick up your call if we are able to do so, otherwise, please leave us a message."
All our friends are familiar with this and know that they can cut short my message by pressing the * button and announce themselves immediately.
Not one single unwanted call has been acknowledged since we installed this.

This is a genuine BT messaging service that turns texts sent to landlines into voice messages. You can set your own curfew times so you don't receive calls at certain times. If you phone 0800 5875 252 and choose option 1 to change curfew times, then choose an option to manage your own settings - option 5 allows you to turn off the service so you won't receive any more messages.0

i love telesales people especially the phone companies. they phone me to tell me i can save money on my mobile so i tell them how is that possible when i own "orange, tmobile or vodafone" it takes them off script and they hang up! double glazing is a good one i agree to a conservatory and when they ask for my address i tell the flat 22 floor 12 they then hang up!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
