Hi all, I am just popping over from the pregnancy thread with a probably stupid question:

With the skin on skin that they recommend straight after birth how does that work? This probably sounds really stupid but I was planning on going through labour wearing a old T-shirt and am now thinking if the baby gets put straight on me do I have to take my T-shirt off and expose myself to everyone?? Or should I just be wearing my old dressing gown so can just snuggle the baby inside? It was just one of the many things I have now started thinking about:o

Also I seem to have been given a lot of clothes but no bibs- any recommendations on how many I should need? I currently have 5 but have no idea whether or not I need them?

Any info will be greatly received :D

PS Elle can't believe Rhys is now 5 months doesn't seem that long ago you were on the preg thread!

    hi karen

I wore a nightie & just shoved it up over my boobs when Jack was born & he went straight on my chest while the MW's sorted the placenta out.
I didn't bleed or sweat much so it wasn't mucky and I just wore it to the bathroom when I went for my bath.

I use 1 bib for about 2 feeds depending on how messy Jack decides to be - approx 7-8 feeds every 24hrs.
Althou recently I've just been using a muslin tucked under his chin

gonna go & start my roast in abit - cant wait!!

Sami & 3 - are we still on for tomorrow? around 10-10.15am @ IKEA

I might be being a bit daft here Bruno, but I didn't think maternal weight gain was a factor in fetal size, unless both things were caused by underlying gestational diabetes?I have been having lots of real life :D

I didn't follow it religiously, perhaps someone else who's seen it can comment, but it seemed to mainly be making a connection between overweight mums and overweight babies (as well as, underweight babies and difficult births). It talked about GD some, but also about the issue more generally.

Poor Elijah has now had 8 dirty nappies in 9 hours, unhealthy looking too, from a baby who has never had more than one a day in months til this week and his MMR :/ he is very enfeebled! Internet tells me it's not worth seeing a doctor unless he seems dehydrated or has other symptoms... poor little baby :(

Roasts are one of my favourite meals - not really OH's as she is less keen on meat - but we both really like olive oil-roasted potatoes and other veggies :) probably they are not the lowest fat item in the world  I shall have to broaden my repertoire...

I had GD, I was underweight before I got pg, put on 1.5 stone, Jack was 6lbs 3oz & I lost all the weight in the first week.

Got my blood test first thing tomorrow to check if the diabetes has gone - stoopid thing is my fasting bloods were fine throughout pregnancy it's the ones after eating
