Getting myself in a tizz - DD has her 2.5 year check today and for some reason I've convinced myself that something will be wrong - silly really as I've been able to answer the questionnaire with no problems.
Maybe I've just read one to many HV stories.

really don't worry! what is this questionaire?
Chris had his check a month or so ago, he was given a couple of (very easy) jigsaws to do, he'd finished the things before the nurse had manged to say "can you put the pieces in the right place?" :rotfl:they only had 4-6 pieces, he has an alphabet train puzzle with 28pieces that he can put together in as little as 3mins.
anyway wondered off topic then! he did jigsaws, built a tower out of blocks, had to match 4 coloured cards to 4 corresponding coloured squares, scribbled with a crayon, had to name a bunch of everyday objects from a book (where he thought both a sponge and a bar of soap were a potato :rotfl:) was weighed and measured and then I was asked if he could wash his hands/dress himself, if we were potty training, how he was eating etc then we were given leaflets about road safety, healthy teeth and some other thing I haven't looked at.
She'll be fine!

Gosh, Keira never got a 2.5 year check like that. I remember the HV came to my house for that, not sure why, asked her a few questions, asked me what her food was like, asked how I was, gave me a bookstart thing and left!
Her 3.4month check was more like the 2.5 one that Chris had though.
My HV are pap though!0 -

Simple answer - Eye check up.
Long winded answer - to check for retina damage, by putting drops in his eyes to open his pupils then looking into them. Babies' retinas are only fully formed at 32 weeks and any baby born before then who has oxygen therapy (like the ventilator and CPAP Rhys had) has a risk of retina damage. Can be varying degrees, known as Stage 1 to 5 - Stage 4/5 means laser treatment, but Stage 1 means only a slightly increased risk of needing glasses when he's older. Rhys only has Stage 1, probably due to being born so close to the 32 week limit - another week and he wouldn't even have been tested for it. He was discharged by the consultant before we left hospital, but will have to have check ups at three months post discharge (tomorrow), then yearly until he's five then he can go to a normal optician.
Sorry, very faffley answer!0
