Dolls: I hate dolls (always have) so wouldn't particularly choose them unless Alice wanted one. If she did, I would probably let her choose from a range selected by us which would exclude things like Barbie and Bratz but I can't say that the skin colour of the doll would be something I would particularly think about. I certainly wouldn't exclude a doll on the basis of skin colour but I wouldn't go out actively seeking non-White dolls unless Alice requested them purely because we are white. If we weren't white then I probably would actively seek dolls of our skin colour.

To be honest I think that other things (such as the media, the culture we are surrounded by and our family attitudes) are probably more influential than the skin colour of dolls. My Grandma was actually half Indian and her family were discriminated against in the early stages of Apartheid in the thirties and I think that having that personal link is a more significant influence to me than having different race dolls would have been.

We're going to Homebase, Ikea and House of Fraser this morning and hopefully working on Alice's bed this afternoon. Somewhere in amongst that I need to finish my banana muffins and bake my bread (which slightly overflowed overnight).

Morning all..

I fell asleep on the sofa last night and OH left me here Amazingly Rhys was still asleep when we woke up but OH had left his alarm on snooze so when it went off again it woke him :rolleyes:

Today's plan is OH is at work, my Dad is coming over to make us a cupboard and later I need to pop into town and pick up a few bits I forgot yesterday. Nothing exciting..

Little Miss Lexi thought 4.30am would be an acceptable time to rise this morning and no begging and promises of a new dress or a new cuddly would persuade her otherwise! Bearing in mind people that this was after me going to bed at 12.20 and Little Miss Lexi waking up and not going back off until 2.30am = Very tired Mummy!!!

Elle Joshua says thanks for the argos link, he thinks its a fab idea, although he has it in his head he is going to write the best little insert and have free toys for the next year. Bless him.

Have read back but lack of sleep makes me forget what I was going to reply to and I think most questions have been answered!

I have to pop to town and grab a few bits and OH is making noises about getting a new sofa (is it odd that Im not all that bothered about getting one? We havnt had this one all that long) . So I will probably be trecking round Sofa shops all afternoon. :rolleyes: Unless of course I can talk him out of it.

I am so tired, Jasmine decided that she needed to tell me she was going to watch a video at 7am and then when she went back into her room so dropped the video and woke Dylan up I didnt get to sleep till after 3 !! On the plus side, Dylan has so far kept down pretty much all of his 1st bottle this morning, which is fantastic !!

Today for me, in this order, is nothing, have a shower, take Jasmine to gymnastics, nothing, go for MILs 60th birthday dinner, go to friends house for 27th birthday, go to pub, get very drunk, stagger home at some point and sleep Sounds exciting, doesnt it ??

Susan, my cards arent albumed anywhere, I have them all in my memory box with my garter, hair feathers, copy of invitation etc...

Hope you all had a good sleep and all sickly babies are better

Oh weezl, Jasmine wants this doll, but not because of its colour, its just she has the boy and girl already, so she wants a full set !!
I dont think the colour of the doll matters, but then if we wernt both white, I might think different !!

I'm up I'm not usually up till 11 on a Saturday and I am thinking about going back to bed after my coffee. I also need a shower, my hair is so greasy that chips are trying to stick to it. I'm like waynetta slob here with my pink fluffly housecoat, greasy hair and yesterdays make up :rotfl:

ETA - I must state that my daughter makes me watch the following things that I hate, therefor spongebob is the one I choose if I have a choice
