    Evening all

Well, as usual I'm just popping in to tell you my news and sorry I don;t have time too read the thread, it is just too huge.

I am having a good week! After Italy we seem to have turned a corner. I'm not sure if it's her age, if it was going to Italy, or what, but I'm managing to get her to sleep much more easily.

I have introduced a 'sleep song' which is the Brahms Lullaby with words made up by me (Go to sleep, go to sleep, rest your wearr--ry eyelids, Mummy's here, Mummy's here, I will kee-ee-eep you safe. And you know I'll be here, till you open your eyes, and you know I'll be here for the rest of your life).

I sing that to her over and over, stroking her forehead, then hum it, then shush a few times, and then she goes to sleep!

It has worked in the pram (another miracle that she will even go in it happily) and at home.

So she is asleep right now, has been since I gave her another feed at 7.45 (she went up at 6.45 and slept from 7.15 for 30 mins) and it was the same last night.

    I'm so proud!

Only snag is OH gets about 15 mins with her now as she gets tired so early (6.30) and he leaves before she wakes in the morning as she sleeps quite late (8 or 9).

Think she may still want feeds hourly around her sleep until late (she is stirring now on the monitor) but it's a great start to getting a routine going.

Now if we can just get the five night feeds down and sort out the problem with her needing a nappy change mid-night things would be pretty much perfect.

Could someone tell me how Caz is please?

I gave in and BF Maddy, bottle just didn't feel right, only hurt a little. Thanks for answering Feelie and for everyone elses good wishes for DD, it's very much appreciated. XXX

And Maddy didn't put on weight for 2wks, so I didn't go back!
I'm not sure when Caz was last on:confused: I think she's busy working/packing etc
If she'll take a bottle is it more comfortable to pump a bit? maybe mix EBM and direct BFing until nips are healed...

Ed still a bit snotty and very unsettled at night  Chris back to full on annoying capabilities :p I love him but I wish he'd be quiet more often!

Skinty, is she in re-useables at night? is that why she needs changing or is it #2's?

I don't know if they cooled Chris, he was on a water bed but everything about his NICU days are so fuzzy. Wouldn't have helped him anyway, the damage could have happened anytime in the 9+ hours before he was born. Great stuff that it is helping, I wonder if they will start doing it routinely for babies born in stressful situations where oxygen deprivation is likely... Wonder how it works... ok, I want to work out how it works, oh it's triggering the biology geek in me!

Thing is with that though, Dylans birth wasnt stressful, it was very relaxed and calm. And his condition cannot be picked up on an ultrasound so there was no way of knowing in advance of the birth
But I do think it should be introduced as standard to all emergency cases if there is proof thatit will work !!

Sounds like Ben, we call it having Character! ;) Being so chatty makes him very popular at school (apart from with the teacher!).

She is in Pampers Newborn size 2 but gets so wet she actually leaks everywhere if I leave her all night which makes me feel awful although she doesn;t seem to care.

Problem is she goes down so early - we changed her at 6pm tonight and will have to change her before 8am tomorrow obviously but it wakes her up totally and she cries :( so we have to settle her again.

Thinking we need to do it when we go up at 10.30 and hope it will get her through?

skinty, dont know if it would work for you, but I am getting Dylan into my routine so when I go back to work I will still see him, and even though he gets tired at 6.30 ish, I let him have a nap til 7.30, then wake him by changing his bum, giving him a wash and some play time with me, then give him a bottle at 8 / 8.30 and in bed after that. Is working well at the minute as he then wakes at 7.30 which is the time I get up, but may not when he starts to sleep longer, but I will adapt as I need to !!
