Andrew's discharge meeting has been organised for next Tuesday - which was his original due date! So he could be home a couple of days after that!

He's cycling off oxygen into air now - he threw his nasal cannula out of the cot earlier, so the nurse gave up for a while! And without the oxygen, he's fed much better - still not perfect, he doesn't open his mouth wide enough really, but he knows what he wants when he's hungry enough to hunt for it.

    Awesome news Tigs! :D

Remember me says they know when they're ready cos they get stroppy with the machines? ;) I'd been meaning to ask what his EDD was..

Will the oxygen come home with you just in case? :)

  • That's fab news tigster :)

Nanc - a few expressing experts on here, but I think you are right that you can put the milk back in the fridge if you're not warming it up for baby. It is normal for new babies to have no concept of night and day. And normal for you to find it difficult to handle too. Have you got DH at home? Can you get DH/your mum/MIL to take over for an hour or so tomorrow so you can have a nap? It does get easier every day, don't panic :)

OH has disappeared into the darkness (of the comp room) with a very screamy Rhys.. :( Every day, I've said "he's been like this all day" and today he asked me again so I said "he's been like this all week" and his eye nearly popped out his head  Seemed to have forgotten all the rest.. I guess that's the Groundhog Day effect! :p More dirty nappies finally but it' not stopped the screaming.. Plan of attack tonight has started with Bonjela, a bottle and now Daddy cuddles.. Calpol on standby :o

We just had to calpol Benjamin when he woke up in a state and nothing would calm him and he is now watching coronation street with daddy - very unheard of in MFD towers.

Is it the full moon yet?

This is our 3rd night away from Benjamin in 7 1/2 months. ...although one of those was with work!!

Fantastic news TIGS!!! How fab are MSE prayers??? We will all keep praying hard for Andrew.

nancmat - BF is hard work hun. I don't think people are honest enough about that.

Can I ask why you are expressing? Are you still BF?

Have you done your birth story, nancmat? How did it all go? How are you feeling - well, healthy and healing, aside from knackered, stressed and in love? ;)

Also sorry another question she was up last night from 9.30pm until finally settling properly at 5am... obviously this was very hardwork and I almost felt like quitting after a tearful night, is this normal?

    xx
completely :) its still early days and she has no idea what is day/night, also all she remembers is being in a nice cosy womb and the world is quite scary :)
one of our first nights at home was exactly the same as the one you've described, i left him with OH and went to bed and cried for hours while he cried, in the end OH put him in the car at 3am and took him for a drive! things will get better :)
    oh, and hello and welcome!

fab news tigs!! not long to go now!

That's lucky. Izzy has never taken a bottle, so it's all down to me. She will drink milk from a cup now, but it isn't the same ;)

And yes, it is a bit overwhelming how much love you can have! :)

Speaking of BF being hard... nebby question coming up.. Are any BFers in way looking forward to BF coming to an end?

I was talking to my friend earlier and she said she can't wait :o She said she'd probably have switched to formula at the six month point but her hubby has diabetes and so she wants her LO not to have formula (not sure of the link there, but I assume there is one ).

Can't say I'm not not looking forward to when I can stop but that comes with the expressing too, I guess..

I was reading the other day about a 6mth+ milk being lower in sodium and other stuff than cows milk and it got me thinking whether Rhys would be allowed ordinary cows milk.. Question for the dietician when we finally get an appointment, I guess

ETA: nancmat, don't let my wittering put you off! BF is fab, just stressful at times.. maybe that's what I'm getting at.
