Ooo well your pension beats my pension Glam
the NHS definitely have their good points! I pay 6%, work pay 9%; as a higher tax-payer it is still pertty powerful though, I think I get over £800 into the pension every month once employer contributions and tax relief are counted!
But I've only been paying in for a couple of years so I have a lot of ground to make up vs sensible people who started at 25 etc
I started in pension at 21 when I went from £11K to £18k in one go! Didn't miss the money then and don't miss it now!
I get around £400 into it each month from my contributions and work.
Weezl - Does DH have the choice of opting into new pension scheme?
I believe that on the old scheme they base your pension on the last 3 years of service so you are penalised if you start winding down as most people do when they get to the late 50's. However, in the new scheme they work it out using the BEST 3 years of your last TEN years therefore one can work hard until 54 and then reduce hours without it affecting pension.money_maker wrote: »
