AF, I was reading in a magazine last night that babies can get unsettled and really wake themselves up if the room isn't the same as when they went to sleep - like if you've had the door open while they've been falling asleep but closed it after you when you've left, etc. Don't know if that applies to you at all

It was the latest issue of Mother and Baby I was reading. They've got a 3/4 page "special" on sleep but to be honest everything but the above had been mentioned here already. Their finally suggestion if nothing else worked was controlled crying which I know you're not keen on :o

I think babies just like waking up at 4/5am :p
Ed has the same sleep pattern!

So does Leila. Its really annoying because 5am is so close to proper morning. If she could just hang on an hour and a bit longer then i'd feel like she had slept through the night. She also gets up again at 7am, so if she wakes at 4am, she has to go back in her cot. If she wakes at 5am she comes into bed with me ready for me to feed her lieing down at 7am.

I've just shushed her back to sleep and OH is looking daggers at me cos he thinks I should have let her get up so I could feed her again. Why are some men so obsessed with how much babies eat? According to him, its never enough.

I offered him the chance to give her a bottle when she wakes tonight but he's refused. I think he wants me to ask for his help rather than suggest it like i'm doing him a favour!! Well i'm stubborn and i'm not going to ask!!:p

Just one more thing. I have thought long and hard about when will be the right time to stop BF and I think it will have to be when I return to work when she's 20 weeks. I know I wont be able to find the time in the morning to feed her for 40 mins, when we'll be getting ready for work. I'd rather spend that time interacting with her then and in the evening and give OH that opportunity too. The thing is she's used to being BF and she grabs at my top and is so content when she is given the boob that the thought of denying her this makes me want to cry. I mean she'll be looking at me 'asking' for the boob and whimpering and i'll have to ignore her. I just hope i'm strong enough. But for me it doesnt seem right to do it in half measures, as if to say sometimes you can have the boob and sometimes you cant. She wont understand it and I think it will just lead her to become frustrated when I deny her. I know some are able to BF just morning and evening etc but emotionally for me and to stop confusion for her, I think it has to be all or nothing for us.

I have about 4 litres of EBM in the freezer and if I keep it up for the next 5 wks then I should have enough so she can exclusively have EBM until she's 6 months. This will help me reconcile with the fact I have stopped BF as she can still have my milk. It will also help me when she's at the childminders because i'll feel that she is getting my milk even when I cant be with her. Its silly to think like that but i'm determined that she has mummy milk till she's 6 months.

Right i'll shut-up now that i've put all my random thoughts down!!

    Thanks for reading!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

thanks for thinking of me :D

that point can apply to us some of the times as i may nurse her to sleep downstairs and then bring her up to the bedroom to go in her crib. although like tonight, i have nursed her off in the bedroom which is where her crib is but no doubt she will wake.

might buy the mag to have a read in any event elle.

i am kicking myself though. in tkmaxx there was a 'thing' you attached to the crib which i think had some kind of moving display on it but you could also use your mp3 to add songs that bubs would like. now i talked myself out of buying it (as i always too) but think it might be handy. LO really likes a particular song and calms down if it is played (as she did tonight) so it would have been handy. will try some strange google searches to see if i can find something along those lines.

Gah.. if only I wasn't anti-WTP! That (shape) is really cute.. neeeeed a plain one! :o
  • I've not got as far as the sleeping section. I've definitely noticed that Izzy sleeps better when she eats more. Not that I'm suggesting force feeding your babies or anything ;)

Didn't sleep too well this weekend, but not worrying about that too much, seeing as we were away. She doesn't like her travel cot much, so she ended up in with me both nights. Not the end of the world, but hopefuly she will sleep better now we are home :)

She has a bit of a cold at the mo - doesn't seem to be feeling ill, but is a big bunged up, so that probably hasn't been helping much. We've had little baby snores - everso cute!!!

that's nice. i'm looking for one too, but was thinking white as i am trying to 'depink' at the minute :D:D

i know mothercare has some white ones but imagine they would have pink too.

I always swore I'd not dress my little girl in pink if I ever had one... course that was when I never dreamed I'd have one. Now it's all pink and pretty! I use her like a dolly, it's teriible but one day she will be able to say no and until then, it's pink!

    But I do love this

My only sleeping tip (the boys were angels) is to let them fall asleep on their own from as early as possible and don't pick them up in the morning/after naps until they cry to be picked up.
