The really modern SVHS recorders (ie those produced only 15 years or so ago) would work on normal VHS tape almost as well too - iirc there was some extra button to press or maybe a menu setting on the one I had.mr_fishbulb wrote: »

I've got a black TV, a black satellite box, a black blu-ray player and a black AV amplifier with 5 black speakers. However, my DVD player is silver. Will this explain why the DVD player's drawer sometimes doesn't open when I press the eject button? Thanx.0

I'm amazed it works at all - you need to nip into B&Q and get a pot of black hammerite.0

But what about the video player ?I've got a black TV, a black satellite box, a black blu-ray player and a black AV amplifier with 5 black speakers. However, my DVD player is silver. Will this explain why the DVD player's drawer sometimes doesn't open when I press the eject button? Thanx.
Doesn't explain why all old type CRT TVs all seem to change en masse from Black to Silver.
Something's going on I tell you.
The guy in the shop must be right.0 -
He said they won't take those because old Black ones won't be compatible with Digital switchover, whereas Silver ones would be.
Seems when these old type CRT TVs changed over in manufacture to be more Digital Sitchover comptaible, they generally changed the colour from Black to Silver.
This sounded a bit silly & possibly rubbish.
But thinking about it years ago lot of old type TVs were Black, but then they did seem to switch to Silver colour.
Is this correct, anyone know ?
All cack.
The only reason colours changed was fashion.0 -
Stick with black - it never goes out of fashion. :cool:0

BTW - I agree that there have been a number of cycles of black dominating then silver then black etc. etc.
Perhaps you missed the smiley on my post.:rolleyes:0 -

Yes, that is correct. Your dvd player is not compatable with the rest of your stuff. You need to go and buy a black dvd player immediately. If you don't all of your tv stuff may explode.
I am surprised it works at all everyone knows that black av stuff should never be mixed with silver av stuff.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
