I was in a 2nd hand shop, they had an old type large CRT widescreen 32" Tv for sale, Silver colour, weighs a tonne.
I asked them if they took these old TVs for sale, as I have one I need to get rid of.
He asked me what colour mine was, told him it was Black.
He said they won't take those because old Black ones won't be compatible with Digital switchover, whereas Silver ones would be.
Seems when these old type CRT TVs changed over in manufacture to be more Digital Sitchover comptaible, they generally changed the colour from Black to Silver.
This sounded a bit silly & possibly rubbish.
But thinking about it years ago lot of old type TVs were Black, but then they did seem to switch to Silver colour.
Is this correct, anyone know ?

I just scratched those words and they sure smell like BS to me.
The only requirement for an old TV to be usable with a Freeview set top box is that it has some way of accepting at least composite video and audio from an external device or a set top box that outputs RF (not sure if any do that though)0 -
What a load of rubbish. What has the colour of a tv got to do with if it being ditigal compatable. That is like saying all red cars can't have a cd player in them because they are not compatable with compact disc players.
As long as it has a scart connector on the back it can have a digital box plugged into it.
Was the person in the shop 12 years old or something.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Don't most Freeview boxes connect to the TV via nothing more complicated than a scart lead?0

I was going to say that as well but I could not be bothered typing it, lol.:DIva started Dec 2018.0 -
I have just found out that I can't cook chicken in my oven because it is a creme colour and not white. Apparently my oven is not chicken compatable.
Only white ovens are chicken compatable.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
I agree it sounds silly & rubbish, but a lot of big manufacturers made their TVs in Black, then they all seemed to change to Silver.0

It doesnt sound rubbish it is rubbish colour of tv have nothing to do with if it can take digital. Even tvs without scart sockets can take digital if the box has rf loop through which some do but not all.0

That's just fashion - a way to make last years shiny goody look antiquated so you need to consign it to landfill and buy the latest and greatest. You may have thought Apple invented this technique but it was around before Mr Jobs was a twinkle in his parent's eyes.0
