  • Firefox would be my personal choice. And IE would be my last choice. But like others have said, it comes down to personal choice.
  • For me, it's gotta be Mozilla Firefox.

    1. Open-Source. Like a bottle of concentrated Win in my books.
    2. The massive amount of plug-ins available. AdBlock Plus, anyone?
    3. The Personas addon. Whatever the mood, there's a Firefox skin for it.

Tried IE 7&8, Chrome (nice addition btw!), Opera and Safari.

  • Asking in an IT forum what is the best browser, is a bit like asking a group of teenage boys who the sexiest woman is!

I'd go for Firefox and Aliona from Strictly Come Dancing.
at least i get informed opinions

oh and btw zooey deschanel > aliona ;)

Install the browsers from anewhope's list above, and try each of them out for a few days. You'll quickly figure out which ones you like and why. To his list, I would add Flock, which is built on Firefox and excellent if you're into social networking.

For my part, I've tried them all (including several I'm sure most people have never heard of) and I use Apple's Safari. It's extremely fast, very standards compliant, and has a number of very nice features.

My main browser is Firefox but every now and then you'll get a site that doesn't quite show or work properly in it, so then I use IE8 as my fallback. Pretty standard, non-adventurous, safe setup. ;)
  • my experiment starts here with opera 10 with turbo on automatic

i am housesitting elsewhere, they have a very similar setup, same isp, same package, very similar laptop and they have safari over there alongside ie 8

i chose opera as my first one to try as i work in the mobile industry and we have many opera fanboys, my isp recommends firefox if you ask any of the tech guys (well they recommend anything but i.e lol)

I use firefox with the NOSCRIPT plugin

Reason being its bomb proof. If I visit an 'infected' site then I know im safe. NONE of the others would protect you by default

    Firefox by a country mile

use no script and the add blocker plus plug ins (removes 99% of adds )
also the spell check (on everything) plug in is very handy for dyslexics like me

I also like the you tube downloader plugin

I have mine set to auto delete everything from each session (cookies etc) just in case something nasty gets through. I update spybot search and destroys immunise function once a week so that I can not get redirected to known harmful websites.

IE btw keeps lots and lots of secret records on your surfing habits and sends them to MS (as does defender) which you can not delete from IE, so if you do use IE get CCleaner
