    I quite like Google Chrome!
I have problems with IE7 & 8.. they crash quite often. Chrome is fast, but there are still a few sites it doesn't work quite right on.

You're going to get different answers from different people. But I'm an Opera fanboy, so here's the reasons to get it:

    - "Turbo" function which routes websites through Opera servers which reduce their size, so improves speed on slow connections
    - Email client built-in, so no need to be running a separate program for your email, or to keep having to check the website for your email
    - Speed dial, to have all your favourite websites a single click or keystroke away
    - Visual tabs - tabs with the added bonus of a thumbnail view when you hover over them
    - The most standards-compliant browser for Windows yet (and you can easily mask it as Firefox or IE if the website doesn't like it)
    - Link function, so you can have the same bookmarks, notes and histories on any computer you use and even your phone
    - Saveable sessions, so you can save the exact state of your browser and get it back later. Even after viewing other sites.

...and it's all there when you first use it, you don't have to download extensions.

    OK, I'm done :D

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I use firefox with the NOSCRIPT plugin

Reason being its bomb proof. If I visit an 'infected' site then I know im safe. NONE of the others would protect you by default

  • All of them have pros and cons and you'll get a different opinions off who you ask. The best advice would be to try them all out yourself and see which you feel more comfortable using.

Get Internet Explorer 8 through Windows Update, it's significantly better than 7. If you are using Vista or 7 with UAC enabled, then Internet Explorer will run in Protected Mode which makes it the safest browser.

    The other options;

    Mozilla Firefox
    Google Chrome
    Apple Safari
    Opera

It won't cause any problems to have more than one, or all of them installed at the same time.

firefox on powerful systems (ie lots of ram/good processor)

opera for low power systems (ie limited ram)
  • Asking in an IT forum what is the best browser, is a bit like asking a group of teenage boys who the sexiest woman is!

I'd go for Firefox and Aliona from Strictly Come Dancing.

Especially when most of them don't specify which browser they have tried.... (not specific to you, in general)

Saying IE is the best (for example) might mean "i've only ever tried IE and it works fine" or it could mean "i've searched the planet for the best browser and tried every one for a month and IE came out on top.
