Thanks GG! I had originally thought sky plus works by recording on a DVD/CD doh!
There is a way but when I read it, too much time and effort.

SKy+ records straight onto a hard drive, and according to OH you cant record onto a dvd unless you have a dvd recorder

Evansangel is right - the only way to record it would be with a DVD recorder (or I guess it might be possible to record on to VHS - doubtful that people still have them though
)
If you are moving into a normal house then you could contact the actual landlord and go round the management company - so long as you agree to repair the property and return it to the original state they may allow you to put up a dish... Totally down to the landlord however.
