[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif What's this about?[/title]

From 22 September Starbucks is offering free wi-fi in 650 of its stores throughout the UK and Ireland to everyone that tops-up one of its rewards cards with £5 just once.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif More details[/title]

To get access to the free wi-fi via BT openzone all you need to do to get it is grab a Starbucks rewards card instore (for free) and register it online, topping up by at least a fiver (which you can then spend on coffee).

You'll then be able to sign into its network using your rewards card username and password. Existing cardholders needn't re-register. More details: Starbucks Card.

Starbucks Reward card is pretty good anyway. Other benefits you get with it include:

  • Extra 100% Fairtrade certified espresso shot
  • Free flavoured syrup (regular and sugar-free)
  • Free soy milk
  • Free whipped cream
  • Free Tall (12 fl oz) beverage of their choice with the purchase of one bag (250g) of Starbucks wholebean coffee

From time to time it gives away a totally free coffee to card holders too.

You can get free wi-fi in a host of other cafes and restaurants including McDonalds, Wetherspoons, Walkabout, Pret a Manger and more. For full details read the Free Wireless Internet guide.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I love my freebies with my starbucks card (although my waistline doesn't :o)

    Am keen to take advantage of this freebie too, but it says this on the Starbucks site-due to a lack of website update?

    Free Wi-Fi is currently only available in the following stores:

    Kingsway Holborn
    Kingsway House Ground Floor, 99 Kingsway London WC2B 6QX
    Chiswick Park
    Building 5 Chiswick Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5YA
    Ipswich
    Unit 11 Buttermarket Centre, Ipswich IP1 1DT
    Dublin
    Unit 137 The Blanchardstown Centre, Blanchardstown Dublin15
    Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
  • But many other places do free wi-fi for anyone, no catches. ;)

    Anyway, going to Starbucks for coffee is like going to prison for sex - you'll get it, but it'll be really rough.

  • When does the deal expire after you have jumped through the registration hoop?

    As an occasional visitor (airports) I'd be interested, but if I have to use up the offer in a month it's not much use.

    That isn't what it says on their website that you link to. Only available in 3 stores in the UK and 1 in Ireland. So who is right, you or them?

    In those 3+1 stores it's free all the time.

    Other stores have Wi-Fi, search here

    it's free in any other store with Wi-Fi during the promotion

    but paying their prices for coffee it aint a bargain :D

    Free™?

    How is it free if I have to spend £5? That's not free and VERY disappointing to see this lie from a MSE person.

    Please be accurate.

    So where does it say that on their website, and why do the 3+1 appear in the section about the Reward Card - http://starbucks.co.uk/en-GB/_Card/Starbucks+Card+Rewards+Wi-Fi+Support.htm with the statement "Free Wi-Fi is currently only available in the following (3+1) stores"

    Because the £5 is for buying coffees teas and foods not a charge for the WiFi which is free. They are being accurate and it is free as long as you spend £5 on other things like for examle when you get a free CD with a paper, please be accurate yourself and a sorry might be appropriate as well.
