On my first day and a half or so, I also get a sort of 'trail' when I remove the cup. It seems that I make more mucus on those first days - in fact you can see it in a separate layer in the cup. A bit of prompt action with some loo paper is needed! It doesn't happen on the later days.
Lilbert, the thing about a cup is that it shows how much other fluids one produces apart from blood. I have read all sorts of estimates about how much a woman produces during menstruation, and it bears no resemblance to what I have measured using a cup! My first night I sometimes leak, and I use one of the largest cups for that night, as my usual cup, a Lunette, will never make it through the night. A Lunette is supposed to hold 30ml!0 -
thanks all! it is a mucussy blood so have started laying down loo roll! Lilbert-mine over flowed today as well! I was very impressed (in a sad way!) Almost showed my husband but stopped myself just in time!!0

I also succumbed to a half price Femmecup - I wasn't going to, but the idea of it being so much squishier than others intrigued me. Haven't tried it yet though, as I had a busy day yesterday with a funeral and other events and didn't want a new cup letting me down. So I stayed with my trusty MeLuna.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Mine has always leaked - I have a heavy flow. But it still uses less towels than if I didn't. I go through so many towels when I don't use mooncup. It still saves me money. I just use them in tandem. Nights on nights of heavy flow are difficult. Often get up in night to empty (once) or just resort to night time towels for those couple of nights. Mine has saved me so much money over years despite still having to use towels - plus less waste in bin. I can't do re-usable towels as never do hot wash in machine. Boiling on stove ok but I work long hours etc. No one is perfect so just accept that a little waste (and lots of money) saved is better than nothing - if we all did a little bit the earth would be a less polluted place. Over the years it all helps.0

No leaks last night
Getting the hang of this. Need to make sure I wipe thoroughly before I re-insert if after emptying, otherwise it doesnt seal properly. And i need to make sure it pops open properly.
Mine site very low in my vagina, not up near my cervix, and I dont feel it.
In-case anyone is interested in the Meluna cups:

Easter sale
I ordered a large and an extra large for night-time use and heavy flows.
And the best part is, it comes in PURPLE!!!0 -
I bought a femmecup in the half price offer and used it last week and have never used a menstrual cup before. I was too shocked at the blood amount and leaked a bit the first day and thought i had put it in wrong but it was just really full.
I actually emptied mine during showers as i wanted to get the hang of it without making a mess of which i didi need practice on my removal.
It felt comfy, much comfier than tampons they always made me feel i needed a wee when using them but don't notice the femmecup.
My only niggle is the stem i may have to cut it as it caught me a few times when getting out and then that made it harder but not sure if thats because i am new to it.
I will reassess next time but i am pleased i have got one finally. i can't compare it but am happy with femmecup.0 -
Well, I'm not a fan of the MeLunas. They arent as flexible or comfortable as mt mooncup or my femmecup. That being said, I made it through last night with it which is amazing. I used the extra large one and it is H-U-G-E! Got it to open up (just!) and seal, and it just held all my heaviest flow overnight. So I'm really glad i got it just for the heavy overnights! But I wont be wearing it during the day when I can empty a more comfortable one more frequently.0

No! Try to use your inner muscles to push it part way out, then squeeze the base with your fingertips or push a finger alongside it to break seal before you remove it.ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -

I tried doing this, and I can tell that the seal is broken...but it's just really painful when taking it out.....its like the rim is too big :-(0
