Vodafone frustrated contract?

HI ALL AND ANYONE WHO CAN HOPEFULLY ADVISE AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO. I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER ON CONTRACT WITH VODAPHONE FOR 12 YEARS. WE HAVE MOVED TO AN AREA WHERE THERE IS NO RECEPTION. WE HAVE SPOKEN TO A SOLICITOR AND HE SAYS THAT WE HAVE A FRUSTRATED CONTRACT, THEY ARE NOT IN THE WRONG - NOR ARE WE, BUT WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO END THE CONTRACT EARLY WITH VODAPHONE. WE HAVE INFORMED VODAPHONE OF THIS BUT THEY REFUSE TO LET US OUT OF WHAT IS LEFT OF THIS 12 MONTHS CONTRACT WITHOUT PAYING £70 FOR THE PLEASURE! AFTER 12 YEARS OF BEING HAPPY WITH THEM I FEEL THEY ARE BEING VERY UNFAIR, I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER INDIA AND IT WORKED FINE, YET IN THE VILLAGE OF METHLEY- LEEDS! THERE IS NO RECEPITION:confused:. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIENCE OF THIS OR WORKS FOR A PHONE COMPANY, PLEASE ADVISE.. THANKS M X

Do try to use lower case!

If you moved and there is no reception, its not the network's fault. Pay the £70 if you want to end the contract and move on.
  • Yes sir! You know writting shows alot about a person, are you a teacher ?

I've recently moved to a small village and checked phone coverage before moving. Would I need a new provider, which would of meant paying off contract.
To be honest for £70 it's not really worth the stress, pay up move on.

Dont just stop paying the bill because mobile phone companies can wreak havoc on your credit file.
  • Vodafone Access Gateway...

If you have a phone capable of 3G and a home broadband line you can use the above product to give you 100% perfect signal in your house. It does cost £5/£10 per month dependant on how long you want to pay for it, but, it'll solve your problem.

If your loyal after 12 years, you won't mind to obtain a signal, will you?

Side note: Yes, it's not the networks fault you moved to somewhere signal is not available, no network promises 100% coverage in there Tcs and Cs so you would have to pay up, use the above product or live with the signal issues in your area.

And, you have it twisted. Just because you've been there for 12 years doesn't mean they will let you break a contract between you and the company. If this was the case, alot of financial institutes and business alike would of saved alot of money breaking contracts when the recession hit.
  • Thanks all, i just thought maybe after being a good customer they would prefer to part on good terms with me. £70 is nothing to them, and i would defo have returned to them had we moved again. Well, i shall bite the bullet, and cough up. Does anyone know if o2 have good deals at the moment, i am stuck with 02 as they have signal in this area. Thanks all xxx

I'm with you minx, I think after 12 years of payments the least they could do is let you off £70. Yes it's outside of their remit to do so but it would be a good gesture that would bring you back to them in the future should you move again. They will have made a pretty penny out of you over the years. It's not their fault there is no signal, but it's not yours either.
  • Thanks dozer..i will, they have had thousands of pounds from me. Ill let you know x
