for the time being, maybe til next Spring?
I've given it a good shot for a year, have price realistically, but dont' want to spend the Autumn/Winter, with such anticipation for any viewer or potentieal buyers - seems it's dried up. Nor do I want to have to move in that time as I'd like to be settled, just for a few months.
I don't know what to do. I've a HIP that I need to keep valid and thought I could always put a (small) for sale poster in the window and maybe advertise of Free Adds (with no Tel No.) shh!
It just seems stupid to keep it on and I can't relax whilst it is.
It's a probate property left by my Mum, mortgage free, and apart from pressure from my brother ( he lives elsewhere) I'd not sell right now, let alone put it on last year and leave it to stagnate?? It's been an awful time for me and I haven't even stopped to grieve - just went on autopilot to get things sorted and now I'm very, very tired.
Any advice?

So your brother wants to sell ? I assume you have been left it half each. Either sell now (you might have to reduce the price) or buy your brother out.
Why stop advertising it as you are? If you're getting no viewings what's the problem?
Are you paying council tax on it? Is it insured? Are you running the heater to stop pipes freezing over winter.
If you can't sell it's because the price is too high. It being empty for a year won't make it more attractive.0 -
Firstly sorry about your loss, you sound like it is overwhelming.
Are you happy to post a Rightmove link. You might get good advice on here about how it appears to viewers.
How many viewings have you had?
Is the problem that you can't cope with the sale process at a difficult time, or that it isn't selling?0 -

What makes you think that the property market will be any different in Spring 2010?0 -

Why stop advertising it as you are? If you're getting no viewings what's the problem? Don't know! its the cheapest in the whole area, now priced right up their with moble homes!

If you can't sell it's because the price is too high. Priced to sell. It being empty for a year won't make it more attractive. Not empty, I've been living here since my Mum passed away

How many viewings have you had? About 8 or nine, one offer fell through cause I've a pitched felt roof and buyers lender wouldn't lend

I don't have a bloody clue as to what will happen next year. Been trying to read up on Web and forums to foresee the future like any house seller or buyer or EA etc. Quite frankly I'm sick of being caught up in the market at such a bad time. I am concerned about the fact I've lost money and may lose more, naturally want to maximise what I can get and whilst i did all they said on CH4 programmes to de clutter, and repaint, lighten up the house, do the garden, though Mum had it looking lovely anyway I 've dug up the weeds about a dozen times since then! but by the time I'd done all that it was August o8 (CRASH). I'm just sick and tired of being part of this process now.0 -

What do the local EA say?
I must say it's ex local authority and we have roof works due @ £4.5 but I've taken that into account in the price0 -
i too am very sorry to hear of your sad loss and the strain you are under at this time due to the estate making you sell.
could you not talk to your brother about how you feel and maybe he could take more control of selling or indeed agree to ease off a little.
do you have anywere to go if you sell?
could you not buy it if you live there already or do you not really want to?
prob' best to keep it on market and ride it out though
good luck
Thank you to all posters0 -
Many people would prefer the work to be done for them rather than get a discount so they then have the bother. Might be worth doing?0
