HTC Hero - Mobiles.co.uk
Right, I've finally decided to go for a 'straightforward' package deal from Mobiles.co.uk. I know many people have had problems with certain aspects - especially with redemption's etc, therefore I thought if I chose a more 'simple' deal/tariff the process will run a lot smoother.
I have NEVER bought any phones from 3rd party sites such as Mobiles.co.uk, but have considered doing for quite a while.
The deal is as followed:
300 minutes + Unlimited Texts with Vodafone Passport - £15.00 monthly.
Phone cost = £149.99
Going to go through Quidco too, to try and claim £40, save a little bit extra.
If anyone knows of any Promo codes - I would feel greatly thankful for them.
I will be putting the order through tomorrow morning about 11am'ish, to give them plenty enough time for the 'Special next day delivery' through (I have chosen) Royal Mail.
I am going to cancel the subscribed items (Insurance etc) once I find out what they are, asap to avoid being caught off guard. Since its my first time through a 3rd party website - I am being extra cautious with everything.
I'm hoping that by posting my actions and opinions about the procedure, I will help other users who are also considering such sites. I know its not greatly helpful since I am not claiming any gifts/cashback etc, but I, from my perspective tell everyone what the procedure was like etc.
Took me quite a while to decide too whether to get the 'internet' package too. I thought about it a while and decided that since there are quite a lot of Wi Fi hotspots near my Uni I will be fine, and I rather get more minutes/texts.
Hopefully the Rep for Mobiles.co.uk will be able to help me in a much quicker way if anything goes wrong. I will reply once I have placed my order.
Feel free to express any views on this, any help is appreciated.

I take it you didn't read any of the threads regarding mobiles.co.uk before you decided to order from them ???????
As for the Rep helping you :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hi Silk,
I have actually read all of them previously (You quoted most of them in other threads), I appreciate the concern, but if I am cautious enough, everything should work out in the end. I have a few friends who have ordered from them with no trouble in the past few months too which gave me a bit more confidence to try them myself. Going to place the order now, and hoping it will arrive tomorrow before 5pm...0 -

The problems with mobiles.co.uk are when they go wrong the CS is non existant as you have seen and even the follow ups today have shown how bad it is.
Its a bit like playing Russian roulette, lets hope theres no bullet in the chamber when you pull the triggerIt's not just about the money0 -
Yea, totally understand what you mean, that is why I've been avoiding these sites for the past 11 years or so...
Just placed the order and everything went through ok (like it should, duh! lol).
12.47pm - Tuesday 22nd September 2009.
Let's see how long it takes to arrive and if there are any problems. As for credit checks etc etc I should be more than fine. I might even upload a video onto youtube of the unboxing when i receive it (IF I receive it).
Russian Roulette here I go.
p.s @ Silk, I've not rang up yet so I'm not sure how the CS is at that end, but through emails (besides from a sunday I think) - the response to my emails were quite quick. I sent one to Ben the Rep here, but he's so far not replied yet, however my questions were already answered by another mobiles.co.uk sales team staff so its all good.

Just wish my 46 inch Sony LCD and Halo ODST will arrive today xD0 -

You will then find the emails don't get answered, the phones don't get answered and the process suddenly goes very sloooooow
Fingers crossed for you it goes ok, but if it does it will be down to luck rather than better judgementIt's not just about the money0 -
I don't think there is a problem getting them to sell you a contract unless you fail the credit check of course. They are quite quick to respond when they are trying to sell you something. The issues with them only start after they have snared you if there is a problem large or small

Yep, fingers crossed and hope for the best I guess....
If anything goes wrong, I'll go on a rage and write a load of crap here which probably won't make sense. Forgive me if this is the case lol.0 -
UPDATE:
I received the phone yesterday as promised (Didn't pick it up till today), so the delivery went smoothly.
Going to check the phone to see if everything is working as it should and then I will update this thread again once I have
a.) Successfully canceled the 2 add on's. Insurance and the other add on - which it gives you 1 month free trial of.
b.) When I have tested most of the phones major functions/hardware to make sure the phone is not faulty.
*Fingers crossed again*0 -
Well done.
You'd better start keeping an eye on your bank account though :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It's not just about the money0 -
And what do you think of the HTC Hero? If I didn't have an Iphone I think I would have gone for the HTC Hero.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.0
