trying to find OH's christmas pressies on line is seemingly rather difficult!! What do you buy a man who literally has everything, but what he does like is the best of the best, we've set a budget of £300 but am stumped?! He's done track days etc, and he has sooo many clothes and gadgets, I just don't know....

    heeeeeellllllppppp!!!!

Ok have just done a fridge freezer inventory in order for me to stop us buying any more food this month!! I seriously can not let OH near tesco, as he spends a fortune and all the tesco clubcard vouchers, as I have just found out!!!!!

So in my Fridge freezer today I have

    8 eggs
1 and half packs of butter
1 and a bit tubs of marg
    1 block of lard
    half tub of stork
1 big carton of custurd
    1 pineapple
2 and half big blocks of cheese
    1 full 4 pt milk

    2 indiv portions fish pie
    2 indiv portions shep pie
    3 indiv portions lasagne
    4 indiv portions bolognaise
    6 of chillie
4 of soup (although OH wont eat it as it's not a proper meal :mad:)
    2 portions of pizza
2 of thai green chicken curry
    1 of ordinary curry

    1 pack of sausagemeat
    1 pack of puff pastry

my meat I have divided down

    so I have

3 dinner size packs of sausages
    9 chicken breasts
3 breakfast size packs of bacon
4 x 4 indiv portions of mins (wow thats 16 dinners, thats what happens when OH goes shopping!!!!)
1 huge pack of ham and one small one!!

we have a pack of burgers and some chickeny things as well as chips incase OH god forbid has to fend for hiimself at any time.

    1 pack of marg
    2 4pter of milks
and half a loaf of bread

Thats a lot isn't it, didn't realise quite how much there was!!!

Need to have a delve through the pantry type cuboard and see what I've got in that I can make meals out of the chicken and mince with.......

:T feeling a lot better about our spending so much on christmas decs knowing that we can actually eat now!!! lol

    ok cupboards:

12 tins tuna  again one of OH's wonderful buys
salt and pepper and tons of spices and tom sauce etc
    1/4 tube tom puree
    1 tin beans
    1 tin kidney beans
    1 tin chop toms
1 tin value curry sauce.... shhhhhh for emergencies only OH will never know.
    2 big bags pasta
1/2 bag risotto rice (probably 2 dinners)
    1 creamed coconut sachet
    1 x demerara sugar
    3/4 pack of yeast
    3/4 pack of lentils
3 1/2 whole meal bred flour
    1 1/4 white bread flour
    2 self raising flour
    1 plain flour
    1 pot of honey
    1 1/4 litres veg oil
    pack of currents and sultanas
1 big pack of porridge oats
    1 big pack of rice
    2 packs of noodles
    lots of cereal
    half a pack of onions
    1 1/2 bags of potatoes

hmmmm looking at that I think I have got the makings of quite a few meals, now if I can only get the hang of my bread making I'll be well away. OH is really not convinced by my brick like bread!!

Think I might have a read up on the OS thread on any failsafe bread recipes

    Hi Missy,

Can't believe how energetic you are being on your day off! I'm at work and struggling to find about a quarter of your energy!

For the bread, this is the recipe I use, it's dead easy and doesn't take much effort:

    http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/bread-recipes/basic-bread-recipe

Makes about 2 loaves so I usually freeze one and eat one...not whole though!

Other things that jump out of your list - have you tried making chicken curry pasties? Literally fry the chicken, mix in the curry sauce then make into pastie shapes with the puff pastry and seal with egg. I freeze them like that (and cheese and onion ones) and just take out about an hour before they are needed.

Well done on the debt busting! Not going into the overdraft is brilliant!

    xx

hey katy83 thank you so much for the recipe ideas, really not something I would have thought of, but know OH will love. You are a star!!! oooh will have a look at Jamie Olivers recipe, how big are your bread loaves, as OH only likes proper sized bread!!!

Lol to having energy, I wouldn't have had any if I was at work, it's purely and simply because I am at home, and thought I'd best get out of bed!! Just as well I did, the door bell has gone twice, I'm sure if they had had to meet the morning monster that is me before I'm dressed.... (think of ugly betty but with worse hair)........they would have run away very quickly. lol

Well I think I'm going to chill on the sofa for a bit and maybe have a little snooze and think about what I might cook with all my ingredients.....

    xx

No, they make proper sized bread. Not like warburtons huge slices but big enough for sandwiches and small enough to fit in the toaster. :D

I've tried it with all sorts of different flour (white, brown, wholemeal and mixtures) and the best I think is 2/3 wholemeal and 1/3 white.

Ooh, afternoon on the settee sounds lovely - enjoy! xx
