There is nothing in Sky's terms which say the additional setup fee is chargable...Im spinning round in bloody circles now!
The only charge you should receive is to install the Sky TV service. They do the Sky Talk for free! It's just a push of a button!0 -

Hi,
Ive just had a heated debate with Sky, who tell me that the extra £39 is because my BT line is not active (as opposed to not set up).....but I have plugged a phone in and I get a dial tone.....
I'm also a bit hacked off now because they have charged £30 for installation when there I confirmed to them there is already:
1. A communal sky dish in the apartment block;
2. 2 sockets on the wall next to my TV marked 'Satellite'.
....so the installation will just be a case of plugging the box into the wall. Bad value @ £30 IMOProfit=sanity
Turnover=vanity

Have to agree with Juliescot - I too cannot get anything but channels 1-4. Having finally admitted defeat and opted for Sky then found can't get Sky because tree in neighbours garden blocks signal.
Stuck with 4 channels and hope of change of service once go digital in 2011.
As an aside, underlay_guru, did the sellers not have to reveal the info re poor reception when selling. Am worried all will have to be revealed up front if we sell up and will then put people off buying house.If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -

You may have already checked this, but a lot of apartment blocks (including mine) have communal dishes, but they scrimp on the installation and don't include the extra connections needed for Sky+ and HD.
I still decided to go ahead with Sky+, but it's limited. For example, I can record, but not change channel (because there aren't 2 feeds like there should be).0
