Hi,
Well I have just moved house, and knew the area was not 'cabled up' for Virgin TV, so though I'd just use the freeview for a few months. Unfortunately, I have found out I can't pick up any digital signal in the area:eek:!!!!! (no DAB either:eek:!!!) It must be one of the very few areas of Britain where no digital TV or radio is available yet!!:eek:
...Leaving me with channels 1 to 4, and a fuzzy channel 5. the freeview website says I cant pick up ANY digital TV until 2011:eek:!!!!
I never envisaged I would have to buy Sky TV, but thats all thats available, but the equivalent package to my £43 per month Virgin package from Sky is over £60 per month :eek:!!!
Ive had a little look AT Freesat, but the channel lineup is a load of rubbish. Anyone got any tips as to how I can get a good deal from Sky?
Any help would be much appreciated.

What package are you after? I presume from the Sky price that it's phone, broadband and TV?Dave. :wave:0

Hi,
Looking for the lot, but because there are no other services available in the area (Not even freeview), I'm wary in case they will not offer any deals, as I really have no choice but to get Sky.....
I thought that everywhere except the Scottish highlands could pick up a freeview signal........im in the middle of the country in between 2 major cities!! (I have checked my postcode on the freeview website and it confirms no digital signal at all until 2011!)Profit=sanity

I have just rang Sky who tell me that I will also have to pay an additional setup fee of £69 for the SkyTalk. I tolld them that there was already a BT line set up, but they said that would not make a difference.
There is nothing in Sky's terms which say the additional setup fee is chargable...Im spinning round in bloody circles now!Profit=sanity

It is not just remote parts of the country that can't get freeview.
My local aerial only re broadcasts BBC 1 & 2 ITV1 and CH4 and I am in a city
Will all be fine in a few years - allegedly.0 -

They only way i could suggest that you save a bit more is buy ordering online and going through a cashback site like quidco, as i called sky to ask some questions about getting there services in my new flat and was told there was a £30 installation charge but this is free if you sign up on line, i have taken out a new sky phone line but the cost for that was £39 so my quidco cashback covers the cost of this and my HD box also you get a £50 tesco voucher free if you sign up on line0

Hi,
Well I have just bought the Sky: they are charging me £69 for installation of both the TV system and the phoneline (I checked with BT, and they wanted to charge £125 just to install the phone line), but....
I managed to get the HD+ box reduced from £49 to free;
...and £11 per month line rental waived for 6 months. Plus the £50 tesco voucher. Not bad for 200 channels full of adverts I suppose....Profit=sanity
