Hi, you not bailing your partner out is a good start and that you have managed to save a bit. Slowly. slowly! Good luck.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

Hello again nirelandguy, nice to hear from you. Obviously you haven't had to sell the computer, so that's one good thing. If your lady is now having to write out cheques to pay her own bills then sooner or later those cheques will turn from paper to rubber and she will have to face reality and admit she's insolvent. If she is not in a DMP of her own then it's time she contacted the organisation you are with (I assume your DMP is handled by a company and you are not flying solo on this). How do you solve a huge debt problem? The same way as you tackle eating an elephant - in small bites. I see from your last few posts you have been seriously looking into costcutting and have made a few changes - keep it up! You will get there eventually. One life - your life - live it!0

It actually is addictive to be honest, This past few weeks I have wrote out a shopping list, worked out food for exactly every meal, we have saved a good bit and bought what was needed rather than a load of rubbish.
I went to Tesco's last night, not for shopping, just for a look around to be honest, never bought 1 thing, I did this a couple of weeks ago and if I remember correctly we bought £60 worth of junk. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I agree it is very satisfying when you find you can buy what you need and live quite well without spending too much. A bit of a challenge these days, with prices of everything going up all the time, but then we DFW's are up for any challenge like that, aren't we? It's all about changing your mindset - from looking at costcutting as a form of deprivation and self-denial, to looking at it as a means of getting the most for your cash. You can do the same with the dreaded C word - presents do not have to cost the earth, and you really don't need to spend tons of cash to have a good time. One life - your life - live it!0

That makes a real difference.
I hope that your OH has a separate bank account? if so, things should grind to a halt soon.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Am so pleased things are beginning to look up for you! I agree about MSE becoming addictive. I only joined this lovely bunch in March and was so proud when I had my first NSD now I average 4 a week all down to this site!
Enjoy the chinese you deserve it/:beer:Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

I second that - something like a takeaway is a really nice treat if you only have one occasionally, and you really appreciate it more than you would if you had them evry week. Keep focused on your debtsolving plans, soon your other half will start having her own ideas on cutting costs, and the two of you will become as sad as the rest of us on here (only kidding!):DOne life - your life - live it!0
