Don't forget that the sheepskins will be cleaned before they are used for the boots- its what they clean them with that could be the problems for skin conditions, not just any bacteria on your feet which may then grow with the warm conditions of your feet- I know that sheepskin is clean etc etc, but they are not able to work magic and erase all the bacteria on your feet, and sometimes even if you feel that you've cleaned your feet really well, bactria can still remain and then all it takes is the right conditions for them to thrive and build.

Agree with what you say wagglessmells, I have my mum who normally lives in her fitflops, somehow get plantas fastisil...(sorry, can't quite remember the heel condition!) she walks alot but the condition onoy happened just recently when she really wore her fitflops more then normal. I would imagine that if anyone has any underlying problems or niggles then get them dealt with- fitflops are there to do stuff to your posture, and can cause new stresses and strains, its very likely that any underlying issues could become worse and then cause even more pain then when they started with. And if things do get bad, they can take a lot lot longer to repair then they would have otherwise.

I've got a very wide foot so shoes are always a pain for me..pun intended too!
Someone else suggested the MBT but the only ones we found were upwards of £160  so I've some earnest web-hunting ahead of me.
Could anyone suggest a brand comparable to Earth, Fitflop etc that also does mens up to size 13 :o ..we breed 'em big in our family :D with several of the Offspring's cousins around that shoe size. Makes shopping for socks a pain too....

Try here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=MBT&x=14&y=16 Prices start at £39.99 and these are genuine MBT's. I got a new pair myself on there recently and since I've bought them before from a registered retailer (where they check how you walk in store) I can tell the difference.

    I'm in pain........... :o

Ok, slight exaggeration.. :D Just been out for a walk with dog wearing my mukluks.. (who invents these names? Fitflop Mukluks - trying saying that after a glass or two of wine..) anyway, just got back and the muscles going up the backs of my legs and thighs were really straining! I am rather impressed.

I only potter a bit here and there during the day at work so not sure I will get much benefit wearing them there.

On the down side.. trod in something at some point and have a Mukluk to clean up later .. :o

Also, I have ezcema on one foot (normal, always have it on right foot never left?) and the sheepskin has made it itch like hell and brought me up in a rash... i may have to wear socks next time I wear them. Puzzled tho, as my Bailey buttons didn't make it itch, nor did my Emu's which I have been wearing for work this past week.

Re the sheepskin. On the Mukluk it is only around the ankle/leg part, the foot part is material of some sort.

Thanks for that Jeannie. I've got ezcema on my feet and my Billows sometimes make them itch like mad - I think it's a combination of the wool and the heat. Occasionally my newer Uggs do it to, but never my ancient ones that are 5/6 years old. Can only assume it's the way the wool is treated.

I feel less alone now... :D

My bailey uggs are fine - but they are a lovely chestnut colour and would be very ruined if I wore them for work! Black grease and diesel etc... I have a pair of oldish Emus which have never bothered me and they are high boots (as they are known 'hi' boots...) and can be a bit too warm for this time of year - so was excited about the Mukluks being a low boot - sorry, 'lo boot'. :D;)

Up until the end of September I was still wearing my fitflops sandals so I was glad when I heard about the Mukluk boots (plus I did keep getting funny looks wearing fitflops in the cold weather!)
Had a few probs with my order from sweatybetty, as the boots were marked, so I returned for replacement, didn't get replacement, didn't get refund, then got replacement and charged TWICE  now all is okay! I have had my boots for 2 weeks now and LOVE THEM :rotfl:i wear them to work (some days!) and outside of work. I ordered the chestnut colour which I fell in love with, the colour isn't practical but so far I have been so careful! They are like walking in slippers! So comfy, and lovely and warm! Initially I found it strange wearing without socks but ever since it has felt natural, and the boots still smell fresh. I just wish that I could afford another pair in black so I could wear those to work and keep my chestnut for outside work! Oh and also a brown pair hehe. Hopefully there will be sales, and further discount codes! I find it so hard to get shoes/ boots that don't hurt my feet, as I have problems with the bones in my feet and problems with pressure points; these boots just stop all of this and I can easily walk around all day at work, lift items, run up and down stairs with ease! They are pricey but worth it with the lack of pain I am experiencing.

KitKat you echo everything I think about my boots... I've still not worn mine for work, I will, but I don't want to ruin them just yet.. I have only worn them a couple of times, without socks - but am worried about a whole day at work and the sweatiness.... :o Plus I got some itching from the sheepskin bit.

I will report back when they have been fully road tested, and like you, I would like them in all the colours.. but I can't afford them..

Just wanted to let everyone know that thefitco.com have fitflop billow (last years style) in stock for £80 delivered - I received mine today and am delighted with them. I have to say that they do look a bit like slippers but they feel great on and are really cosy.

I so want a pair of the inuks - have a 20% code for sweatybetty too, but they only have the light ones :(

Does anyone else have these? My calves are flipping huge - and not in a good way, I have horrible legs :o - and can't ususally get a pair of boots to fit! Are these decent or really snug at the top?

Jeanieblue- I am glad someone else has the same opinion! I really like my boots and find them fine wearing to work. I have to walk up lots of stairs to get to my office and I have had no problems with sweating or smelling of my boots. My feet do get warmer, but simply cool down when my body does. The boots keep my feet feeling smug and when I get home and take them off I do miss them! Just wish that I could afford another pair/ or that they would come down in price! The sheepskin hasn't given me any problems but maybe wear a thin pair of socks/ tights and see if that helps? I am sure it won't do any harm!
Glowgirl; I am not sure about the Inuks, when I saw them in a shop they seemed a decent size; maybe check on the fitflops website where your local stockist is (think the address is www.fitflops.co.uk) and go to the shop and try them on 1st, then if ok, order your required size online using the voucher code. Otherwise you can order them and return if no good as most sites have a money back guarente period. My mukluks are very generous and have tonnes of space!
  • Hello GlowGirl - I have big calves too but was amazed that my FitFlop Inuk's in chestnut fitted me! :) Got them yesterday and wore them for the first time today...bliss, like walking on clouds and to know they're doing me good too is a bonus! When I saw them on the advertising I thought they never would. My advice is to go down a size like with Uggs, as the FitFlop footbed seems to be generous. Which is okay for the sandals as you need a little space front and back but not in the boots. I'm normally a UK 8 but get 7 in Uggs and got 7 in these and they fit great.

    Hope this helps!
