I'm a Nappy Lady advisor and there are more complaints about prefolds than any other type of nappy (not that we encourage their use). Generally it's large bundles of prefolds for sale on Ebay that other people haven't got on with. You really need to have advice that's tailored to you and your circumstances.0

I really am suprised at that, we have used prefolds with our daughter (now almost 2) and with our son (now 6weeks old) and love them, the benefits we have found are that they are reasonably easy to use, and are much quicker to dry than the all in one type. If you use different folding techniques for the prefolds it covers all eventualities. We use fleece liners instead of paper ones as more environmentally friendly and much better for babys skin (and cheaper too). Use cotton bottom wraps for our daughter untill recently saw that bambino mio have a little extra material at the leg to help prevent leaks, now use these wraps for both children.
I have found the prefolds cheaper to use than most other nappies (with exception of terry squares) but I may be wrong in that

I used Motherease with DS3 and found them great during the day but I used a disposable at night as whatever I tried they leaked/got soaked at night. Fleece liners are great - buy a bit on fleece in the fabic dept of say John Lewis and cut it into strips. Sometimes if baby does a poo staight after a nappy change (mine always did this) you can just change the liner. Good luck DKThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

I've found that most people who dislike prefolds have been selling/proffiting from nappies - and prefolds along with terry squares have very little profit margin in them.
I used predominantly Prefolds with some cotton squares (and the occasional shaped nappy) and found them so much better than shaped nappies - in fit, absorbency and especially in drying time (squares dry in an hour or two, prefolds in a couple of hours more on an average summer day - the shaped nappies would be out from 8am - 8pm some days and still be damp).ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
What are prefolds? I always thought they were another name for shaped nappies.0

Have taken this from the cotton bottoms website.....
Cotton Bottoms nappies have three parts:
Nappy Covers.
Cotton Bottoms Nappy Covers are designed to be quick and easy to use. They have adjustable easy-fix fastenings to give a snug leakproof fit, and do up just like a disposable. They are made of soft waterproof fabric with soft binding round the legs and waist.
Nappy Pads
Our Nappy Pads are made of 100% cotton, which is soft and naturally absorbent. The central panel of the pad is thicker than the edges, and a quick and easy fold gives the greatest absorbency where it is needed for a boy or a girl. As you move up through the sizes, the pads get both larger and thicker to meet the needs of your growing baby.
Nappy Liners
Cotton Bottoms Nappy Liners are fully flushable and biodegradable. They allow moisture to pass through to be absorbed by the nappy pad, but retain the solids to prevent soiling the nappy pad. Using liners makes nappy washing easier.
We use Bambino Mio wraps though and use the fleece liners rather than the flushable ones
hope that helps
