Hi, I'm looking for advice from any smokers out there, I travel to spain once or twice a year to stock up on my cigarettes but a friend has just rerturned and told me the prices have risen significantly this year. I am wondering whether you can buy recogniseable brands in places like Prague or Warsaw, does anyone know, thanks

I've just come back from Prague and brought back 800 Marlboro lights (went with 3 non smokers who were happy to carry their allowance back through customs for me)
20 Marlboro Lights were 60kc - It cost about £60 for 800 Marlboro
I've heard that a good place with a fairly wide range of 'known' cigarette brands (b&h, l&b etc..) Is the large Tesco's which is in the 'New Town' at Národní třídadon't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -

They were still 'old' prices in Greece about a month ago - have been similar to Spain for a good few years - B&H, Superkings etc around e28 ish. They normally increase prices in Greece around September time - around a couple of euro a sleeve last year (again similar to Spain).0

thanks everyone, from what I have gathered I think it will be a short break to Greece or Portugal0

Not much help but just thought I'd let you know that in The Gambia (West Africa) they are £5 for 200 Marlboro Lights!
50p a pack....crazy0 -
We smoke Mayfair here. But go to Rhodes each year and buy there local brand 'Leader', same difference and only 1 Euro a packet.0

£12 for 200 marlboro in Gibralter!!
Most packs of 200 of any make are around the £12 mark - well worth the cheap flight. You could always go see the monkeys too, but be careful, they are vicious little !!!!!!s!Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -
I agree they are great prices in Gibraltar but the problem is you are only allowed to bring out 200, customs are very strict there. It's not classed as EEC for some reason.0

Out of interest, does anyone know what would happen if you were caught at Manchester Airport with, say 4000 cigs and you'd come from outside the EU where the limit is 200?
Just wondering what customs would do! Not planning it, but know someone who did it a while back, never got caught but always wondered what would have happened if he did...0 -
They will certainly confiscate the cigs. They could bring a prosecution for evading duty, but I haven't heard of this for relatively small quantities (most prosecutions are for bringing transits or containers (when they can also confiscate the vehicle).
Unless you're really unkucky and end up with a "bend over and pass me the Marigolds" situation...0
