on my landing there is only the dirty laundry bin! It used to live in the bathroom but I moved it out of there earlier this year when I put the doll's house (which used to live there) in the loft.

    Thanks!

In the HHC I re-filled the WM with cushions and the throw from the playroom - splattered with porridge this morning . I have emptied the baskets in the back hall and have identified two pairs of small boys waterproofs and various thomas hats for re-housing - all age 2-3. Jumped in the bin, bagged up magazines for recycling, and put a chicken in the oven for lunch. Children have been rewarded for their efforts in the playroom, DS1 is allowed to Dyson it. It will be a sad day when he realises this is a job not a reward :p.

    SS- Toots remembers too :p
Mrs B - I found I actually ate more with SW, but instead of living on toast I actually eat wierd things like fruit and veg. A lot of my calories came from my mate Stella (classy me) which I gave up, and replaced to a far lesser extent with dry white wine. I am also highly dependent on dolce gusto black coffee - costs more but so much nicer than instant.

I have a dolce gusto machine (No Valli i have not forgotten your invite) I am thinking of having an Anne Summers party when the room is decorated and hopefully Valli will come to that ;)
Dusty... I hate my landing soooo much! It's currently got:
    A sewing machine
A bookshelf with "gibble" on it!
A huge pile of LPs that is about to double in size as all the LPs from the DR are going upstairs. (eventually the records will go into the loft... which needs boarding first  )

However... I have been working on it, a bit at a time, and I've cleared loads of carp from there. It's much better, and will get better when the loft gets done.

Sarah my sis put LP's in the loft and they warped !!!!!

I took a pic of my living room this morning and will post on fb later. I have emptied all my units as they have gone to my mothers.

I have to pluck up the courage to post it lol

Things are going okish on the tiling front. We are only doing 2 sides off the kitchen above the worktop and 1 is nearly finished, just cutting tiles for a few fiddly bits. We stopped midway through to go and buy a tile saw to make life easier but it didn't so now we have a tool that we have absolutely no use for.

While OH has been tiling and repeatedly knocking his head on the cupboards and fan I have done a bit of edging to the lawn. The lawn shears we have bought are really heavy though and so I am doing ti in small chunks. We have gone through 2 strimmers and they have been really annoying as the strim line doesn't last for very long and always wears out on one side so I have opted for the tiresome and in the long run, cheaper way of doing things...the traditional, OS way.

Ironing can be done to X-Factor so I am going back to offer moral support to OH.

  • TW0 GLASSES OF WINE

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine theory...

A professor stood before his philosophy class with some items on his desk in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'YES.'

The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first', he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the good things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18 holes. Do one more run down the ski slope. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter.

Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented.

The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend.'

Share this with someone you care about... I just did.

Dusty - I don't have a landing but I do have two hallways - one of which only leads to bedrooms so that, I guess is a landing. In that corridor, I have shelves and bookcases full of - yes - books! plus two wicker things with lids holding spare shoes, handbags and dressing gowns etc.

So I suppose the box of LPs I found in the garage last week will be useless then!! Not sure if they were left by previous owners or came from OH's - they were by a holdall of Commodore 64 games() which belong to OH's brother and came from OH's - wish I'd found them before we visited last month.

Toots - rare request for a star, please. Bedroom & inner hall done

Wednesday ~ Master Bedroom and [STRIKE]landing[/STRIKE] inner hall

    4. Sort through your make up and smellies.. are there any that can be rehomed/chucked? - they live elsewhere
Also put a small shelf unit in hall, changed the mirror and the radio for ones that will hopefully fit in better. Bungalow so no landing but this is the equivalent and there is thankfully not a lot of space for it to be a dumping ground (I just use other rooms :o) but it does look quite different from when you posted your question Dusty, not to mention cleaner ....
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli
