    Hi Dave or anyone else

I have the same question, but with more info.

I've been after a new TV for some time, I love watching films and sport, Rugby League being most important. I've seen LCD's in the home and not been impressed when watching RL as the players can be fuzzy or you get blocks of pixels, this was a sony.

Is the most important thing for me the refresh rate? I'm tempted by the Panny viera 40/42 inch as it has a 600hz.

From What i can tell the LCD's don't have a high enough hz rate and LED's are just back lit LCD's with the same problem. I know Plasma are older tech and thicker but I'm more interested in pictur quality and willing to spend up to £1000 but looking for deals which may awy my choice a little.

    Cheers

  • Hi there

There really is a huge range of choice and value at the moment. I'm currently also looking and am quite surprised at the drop in prices at 50" plasmas, especially at seeing the quality in store. (Also when I think we've still got a 28" ws cRT.

Check these bargains out, and after spending time checking reviews and forums, I still can't find much reason not to:

    LG50PQ6000
    .LG 50PS3000

The Panasonic G10 series have very good reviews pretty much everywhere.

Go and look at some and see what you like to start to narrow it down

    What is you budget?
    What size are you after?
Will you be playing games on it?
    Watching HD?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Look at Sony, Sony and Sony. You do generally pay a premium, but I've never ever been disappointed with a Sony lcd tv.

bear in mind in standard definition it will often look a bit worse than old CRT images
i ended up getting a V+ box to upscale SD pictures as it was just unwatchable compared to the high def sources

That is why it is worth going to somewhere like John Lewis who will connect an SD source to the TVs on display - Comet/Currys etc WON'T !
Plus the 5 yr guarantee of course.
