Just trying to get through the day with DS;)
OH decided when he got up he had a migraine( he is worried it is swine flu but it is nothing like the symptoms I have) and cant take DS swimming etc.
DS found this hard to understand but has now calmed down.
I havent tho as I am annoyed that he has taken to his bed and left me to potter on with DS....why are men so ignorant and selfish at times:o:mad:.
I am not doing roast lunch now as OH and I not well enough to eat it and DS only eats gravy and yorkshire puds.
I will roast the chicken anyway as it is defrosted and I need leftovers for chicken pie in the week and DS can have sausage, mash and carrots.
God knows what I will have and OH can sort himself out;). I may even sort out getting some fresh soups from the shops...not OS I know but I honestly havent got the energy to make much.
Sometimes I wish I could put myself first like others seem to but it is just not part of my make up:o
Thanks for messages RE going off sick.....I am definately not going in as I feel terrible. I am also taking RCN union rep with me to meeting as the managers wouldnt get away with any of their snide comments if unions are there. Good thinking about keeping the Tamiflu box....I would have just thrown it.
    Have good days everyone

ps DS now complaining of sore throat:eek:

  • kitchenbunny - Amatriciana sauce ?;):D

Sorry, my fault. It's a slightly spicy tomato and bacon sauce, and we had it last night with pasta :) I reckon it'll make fantastic toasties :D

The day has been lazy so far, but all of a sudden we're going out and won't be back until this evening. At least the sun is out - it means we can go by bike :D

  • Afternoon all

Just back from a lovely weekend away in the caravan. We were near York and went for a walk round yest, we were going to go into the Jorvick museum too yest but queue was too long for us to wait as we had taken the car in and parking would have run out. There was a food festival on though so we wandered round all the lovely stalls and had tasters! Got some absolutely lovely Balsamic vinegar!

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough NPM and Pen-pin hope you start to improve soon.

Whilst we were away a friend has dropped off a bag full of apples from her tree, so together with all the blackberries OH picked the other day, looks like a cooking session is the order of the day!

Wm on some out on the line already as it is a beautiful day here again.

    Have a good day all

    Hi Guys,
A busy morning for me...might go back to bed for a snoooooooze! Not helped by the fact that my 18year old lad "lost track of the time" last night and did not get in until 4.30 this am:eek: Well he had to be up to work at 7.30 and I took great pleasure in dousing him with a cold wet flannel and then setting my two westies on him for a good lick and tickle....he kinda likes that as they regularly do it to get him outta bed for their walk in the morning!!!.

I had a huge pot of soup made - squash, sweet pot and parsnip and banana bread as my diet has been appalling and I hardly got any nutrients last week. It will last me a good few days at lunch when noone is here. Also my kids dad made a huge pot of chili and brought it over so that went down very well.

Noah's PM - Im glad you sprted out union rep. I think its terrible that "the caring professions" treat their staff so badly. To think they make you feel so bad and worried about being off with a genuine illness is truly dreadful - I totally empathise as am in the same situation myself. As for your other half that's men for you....they are the weaker sex but it doesn't help you today. You are right to just potter around and let him sort himself out! Let me know how you get onx

Hope everyone having a restful sunday,
    Molly
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Anyone visiting the Yorvik centre in York, be in the queue when they open, preferably off season Oct' Nov. No 2-3 hour wait then, plus it may be cheaper off season, it used to be.
A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.
  • kitchenbunny - sauce sounds delish

ok, beds changed, washing on in and out ;), jam drops made, bread rising :T first time i've ever made it out of the breadmaker so we'll see
You know your getting old when you
go to the pub sit outside
and admire the hanging basket
    Is officially 48% tight :D
  • Afternoon all, what a beautiful day it is here.

Done lots of cleaning and tidying this weekend (very unlike me!), stripped all 3 beds and changed sheets etc. Washing machine has been on a couple of time today, but still have a couple more loads to do over next day or two. Kids have done their homework, DS actually seemed to enjoy doing his for once, and we didn't have the usual tears of frustration (he has a statement of special needs for dyslexia), so that was positive.

Just need to clean the top floor bathroom and hoover 2 lots of stairs (why oh why did I buy a townhouse, I hate hoovering stairs!), and kids need to hoover their rooms, but that will take them all of about 30 seconds!

NPM - sorry to hear you're poorly, must be really hard being ill and still having to cope with your DS. Think the medical profession are very uncaring about their own when they are ill, and friend who is a nurse was telling me about her experiences recently.

Penny Pincher - hope you feel better soon as well, you seem to be having a rough old time of it at the moment.

    :hello: Good afternoon!

I've got washing on the line but not hopeful that it will get properly dry, as it's been overcast all day with no wind

Well, I made the chicken tikka masala last night and it was really easy, but when i was eating it I kept feeling it wasn't quite right and that there seemed to be something missing.....when I took my plate out to the kitchen I realised i'd forgotten to add the yogurt to the sauce :o Oh well, the rest of it is in the freezer, I stirred the yogurt in once the sauce had cooled, so next time, eh :D

Roast lamb tonight  I'll roast the veggies in with it for convenience:D

(((HUGS))) to all the poorlies, and welcome to our new posters

We didn't watch Strictly on Friday but watched last night's (most surprised at DH happily watching it - i think he couldn't really be bothered to change channels and then realised he quite liked it :rotfl:) Usually we don't really watch it until nearer the Final. I thought Ali and Ricky were really good, though I didn't know who Ali was as we never watch The Bill these days - I recognised Ricky from times when East Enders has started before I've had time to change the channel :p

Oops, better start dinner! Hope everyone has as good an evening as poss xx

    Hello OS peeps

Not been on here for ages but having a look round whilst my plum & apple jam cooks and I'm feeling really inspired. Washing is on the line, the ironing from yesterday's washes is finished and the jam is close to setting...

Roast beef to come, kids to shower & wash hair whilst DH mends the shed roof. Has only been 2 weeks and still not finished
  • Noah's Mummy - ask the matron if she would like to be the one responsible for the pregnant ladies at work getting the flu. Honestly, you'd think she'd know better!

d1965 - Welcome to the Daily OS Thread. :)

PenPin - Hope you feel better as the day has gone on.

Kitchenbunny - I love doing gifts in jars for gifts also. Here are two sites I like for ideas for them. HTH http://www.dmoz.org/Home/Cooking/Gifts_in_a_Jar/

MissyMoo - Welcome back to OS. Hope your move went well and you're feeling nice and settled.

Lazy day here today. DH and I went to the park with the furbabies for a couple of hours. It was lovely, sunny and warm. The furbabies played fetch and played with their furry friends until they were absolutely shattered. When we got home, they both climbed up on the sofa and went straight to sleep. :rotfl:

Tea tonight was a turkey drumstick cooked in the SC, chips, brussel sprouts and gravy. Easy and tasty. I did get some baking done on Friday so we will have choc cake with caramel frosting for our pud later on. DH will of course put custard and cream on his. I'll have mine with a nice cup of coffee.

DH back to work tomorrow. He's only getting 3 days a week right now at work as the hours at the area he works at are lower since the new contract period. Needless to say, he's worried about finances. I'm concerned also, however it will work out. It always seems to. God takes good care of us. :)

I've been saving all my survey money and vouchers for Christmas shopping. We don't do a lot of buying however it's nice not having to figure out where extra money will come from for it. I think I have around £100 now, not really sure though.

Have a good evening everyone. Gentle hugs to all who want/need them. I've really got to make more of an effort to get here daily. I miss you all a lot.

    Hugs,
    Peyton xx
