I didn't say it definitely was the driver, just pointed out ways that a driver could do it.
Then again, if the package was definitely loaded onto the van but not delivered to the correct address, who else could it be?
The driver doesn't have to steal it for it to go missing, he just has to not follow the correct procedure. I've had parcels that required a signature just left on my doorstep, and I've wondered what the driver does. He's supposed to have a signature, but clearly didn't get one, so does he go back without one and risk disciplinary action, or does he provide his own signature?
I've also had parcels left with neighbours but no note for me saying where they were.0 -
I never said you did George my post was directed at the original poster
I agree with you just because something is missing doesn't mean its the driver that stole it. There are plausible explanations as you suggestedLikeAStar90 wrote: »I think the driver most likely stole it and im worried what to do if he says he delivered itI dont want to send proof of my signature as surely they could lie and say the signatures match :S
Has anybody got any advice or experienced something similar and could tell me how it turned out?
Thanks.0 -
If it was paid for by CC why not open a dispute with them?
Or do as everyone is suggesting and send back the form with proof of your signature.
It sounds like your creating problems with this scenario before they even happen.
Send back your signature, if they say it matches and you honestly haven't got it then contact your bank.
Edit: And yes im sure the driver stole it because a £229 phone is well worth losing his job over!!!!! Innocent until proven guilty remember!0 -

Oh dear, is that the best you can come up with, how sad. This is how the Mail/Sun etc maje a living.
But not the Goole Times, it's fine local newspaper, well known for reporting court cases factually.0 -
One week, I was awaiting delivery of four parcels from different companies, and was in the process of chasing all of them. I spoke to John Lewis about one, and they advised it had been delivered. I had received no card at all.
After a bit of toing and froing with neighbours, I tried a house with the same number a few streets away and they found all four parcels in their garage! They'd not had any cards either! All had been left by HDN.
Since then, they've delivered probably another half a dozen of our items to the same address.0 -
It is a clear fact that "helpful" drivers will sign for parcels rather than having to return back to a property at a future date. There will also be some drivers who will sign for items and they will disappear...
The OP needs to write a letter to Empire, signing it, and if possible, proving they were elsewhere at time of delivery.0 -
I was waiting for an item from Amazon recently and it was delivered by courier when I was out.
He put a card through the door to say he had THROWN it over my back gate. The gate in question is over 6 foot high, and he had indeed thrown it over.
Luckily it was still there and it was not raining.
Also luckily it was not broken, was boxed and had airbags around it. It was an exensive dvd box set costing around £150 and was a xmas present.
Well no one was in to sign for it, so he must have signed for it himself.
Wonder what would have been said if I had claimed non delivery.????0
