Barclaycard dilemma

Hi

Just have a couple of questions, I recieved a text today to say that my account this months payment is overdue, I phoned them and explained that I had recieved no e statement or paper statement, And before you say about DD I know I had my first one to start up on the 7th October.

I called Barclaycard striaght away and they explained they have recieved thousands of calls about the statements not being recieved due to the post strike they said that have refunded my late payment fees I asked them about my credit file showing this and they explained that it will not show up on my file (is this correct ??). I also asked them about will I lose my 0% promotion he said no but to confirm with customer service. And then I looked on line to find that they have dropped my credit limit down by £400 he said that this will go back to normal but to again confirm with customer service.

I am sooooo p****d I have a good credit history and now this may be a belmish anyone got any advice or been in the same boat..

Thanks

Nikki:(

So it's the payment that was due on, or around, 7th September (ie from early August's statement) that has been missed?

I'm confused , the statement cut off is on the same day/date every month, so not sure why you need to wait for a statement to get some payment in, also you can log onto your account online, I pay my statement before it even arrives in the post. I don't think waiting for red reminders etc is the way to keep a healthy credit record.
  • Yes the payment was due on the 7th September, So even though I havent missed it it is late,

I know that you should have a DD set up and i have now done that, But up to now I relied on my estatements and my paper statements.

The only way to be absolutely certain is to check your credit files in a month or so.
I also asked them about will I lose my 0% promotion he said no but to confirm with customer service. And then I looked on line to find that they have dropped my credit limit down by £400 he said that this will go back to normal but to again confirm with customer service.
Who were you speaking to then, if not customer services? Perhaps he meant, to call the same team later, due thousands of similar cases involved

There's nothing further you can do at the mo, IMO. If the worst happens, I would take it up with customer services then. As there are thousands of customers in the same boat, I wouldn't think there's much to worry about, but I'd keep a record of telephone conversations, times, dates and member(s) of staff concerned, to be on the safe side ;)

If the payment was due on the 7th, i believe so long as you pay before end of sept, no bad marker of late payment would be registered on your credit file.
My understanding is that most lenders have a cut off date and if you pay b4 this date even if it is late, you dont get a bad marker on your file.
  • Hi

Yes that was what I was told, Just a bit !!!!ed and could kick myself as just got my self sorted out re: financial status etc for this to happen..

    Unfortunately, lenders' procedures vary.

Also, depends on where your payment due date falls in relation to CRA updates. If they happen to process the CRA batch run a day or so after your payment is due, even a couple of days late is marked '1' on your credit report

  • Is there any thing that I can do ?? Or ask Barclaycard when I phone them on Monday..

    Many Thanks

I would get them to confirm that they will not record a late payment on your credit file when they update to the CRA.
Do keep up at the back there. Barclaycard's staff have already confirmed that they will not record a late payment (see OP).

Unfortunately, from feedback on this board, some lenders (eg. Barclaycard) still report late payments, even when CSAs have promised otherwise

nikkijj, the only way to be absolutely certain, IMO, is to check your credit files in a month or so. Until then, there's not a lot you can do.

For peace of mind, check your 0% promotion has not been withdrawn. That should be your No 1 priority, IMO ;)

    Very best
