Barclaycard dilemma
Comments
-
Hi, I have made several payments since the start of the promotion but the first time this has happened.
Just really worried it is going to miss up my credit since my 0% runs out feb 2010.
Thanks Nikki0 -
Even if the worst were to happen, a single late payment on an otherwise spotless credit file is of no consequence. By February 2010, your Barclaycard account would look something like this:have made several payments since the start of the promotion but the first time this has happened. Just really worried it is going to mess up my credit since my 0% runs out Feb 2010.
00001000000 ... etc.
indicating that there was a slip up 4-5 months earlier, but you've maintained the account perfectly ever since

Working against you:
Despite receiving your statement around the same date each month for the last "several" months, you didn't realise (for some 4-6 weeks, and until they had to remind you that you hadn't paid) you hadn't had August's statement.
They don't *have* to do any of the things you have requested (see your T&Cs).
They may not *want* to do any of the things you have requested (if they're having a bad day, or you 'ruffle' them with your letter or initial phone call).
Working for you:
You've been told verbally that...
1. The late fee will be refunded
2. You won't lose your 0% rate
3. The late payment won't be recorded as such with the CRAs
4. They have some 'arrangements' in place due to the postal issues
You have now set up a direct debit.
Hopefully working for you:
You can quote a CSA name, ext number, and the date/time you called them.
You can provide a plausible reason for missing the payment (use your imagination!) by a full 4-6 weeks.
I'd say from the above it's 50/50, but maybe you have a slight edge due to the verbal reassurance. They will (probably) listen to the call though, and especially if you're initially refused and you escalate to a formal complaint, so be sure to be accurate in your statement of what was said.0 -
Thank you
I was going to phone them tommorow, But think it will be best just to stick to the letter then have it all in writing..
Many Thakns
