I have a Logitech keyboard and mouse wireless set.
I am not keen on the mouse and wondered, if I get a totally different wireless mouse (like Microsoft)... can I connect it to the logitech wireless set using the connect button on the reciever and mouse to replace my logitech mouse?

You can just buy a usb wireless mouse and plug it in. xp will dedect it and you can use whichever mouse you like. They will both work at the same time

I would not be sure about that. I have a Microsoft keyboard/mouse set and I can synchronise a different, non-MS, mouse to use the same USB sensor connected to the PC. If I press the re-synch button on the sensor and then press the re-synch button on a Medion mouse it will then take over instead of the MS one on the new frequency setting. The MS keyboard continues to work as before.
So although I can't say for sure about Logitech keyboard/mouse sets I would not be at all surprised if your setup cannot work with the current keyboard but a new mouse. It may all depend on having a compatible range of frequencies.0 -
Some wireless mice work on the same frequency but I am not sure if microsoft and Logitech do.
in cases like this just unplug the logitech mouse connector and connect the microsoft one in its place. i have don this a few times when people have lost their mouse you do end up with 2 wireless receivers on the desk but it works.0
