Do you have too many clothes? And do you wear them all?

We had a clearout recently plus ive lost weight. Oh had lots of clothes he never wore and some were from years ago. I had clothes that didnt fit and were old so replaced a few. Some never wore. It was taking up wardrobe space and was cluttering the place up. We had several trips to the clothing banks. Feel better now.:footie:0

haha, i had to get a 2 bedroom flat so that one room could be dressing room. it now has a row of 5 wardrobes in, a huge chest of drawers, and i'm still stuck for space - could do with a dress rail.
I also have about 400 pairs of shoes, mainly boxed, which are stacked on top of the wardrobes, under the bed, and filling two of the kitchen cupboards. Still not enough space.
Then there's 20 or so coats, on a coat stand and various other over-door hooks.
I'm obsessed with dresses, the more prom-princess the better, so my favourites at the time get hung on the walls as display pieces..
Bags are stored on one of the bookshelves for the clutches, and those with handles on an overdoor hooks over the door to the clothes room.
Jewellery is stored in baskets split up so that I know what's where, on shelves in the living room, and the long beaded necklaces in a metal hanging basket type thing (usually found with flowers in on the outside of someone's house) on one of the bedroom walls.
I fugure that I have so many clothes and accessories that I love, that I may as well incorporate them into my living space rather than hide them away.
I often do list bits on ebay if I decide I no longer like them (I have a low boredom threshold) and use whatever I make as my budget for somehting new, but no, don't wear it all (at once anyway)..There are less and less items which have never been worn though..0 -

wow, every girls dream. im finding less and less space to hide my new clothes,,,, if i wear something new and OH mentions he has never seen it before ill remind him ``you must have seen it, its from last year```:o
he frequently comments on how many clothes i have and insists i need no more. he also sarcasticly reminds me how genorous i am for giving him the top shelf in the wardrobe and 1 drawer:cool:0 -
When I originally posted this thread I wondered if my own clothing ownership was excessive but I've been somewhat reassured. I think part of the problem is that men normally just wear trousers, shirt/jacket or tee shirt in fairly standard designs and it never occurs to most of them to be bored with this arrangement because they don't really notice what other males are wearing. Women on the other hand, generally do notice what fellow women are wearing which triggers the (assumed) need for more variety. Where I let myself down in this argument is that now I'm retired, I'm quite happy to slop around in the same casual clothes for several days on the trot which completely negates the need for all that wardrobe space. Fortunately my OH hasn't quite cottoned onto this yet....0

I fully believe it's not possible to have TOO MANY clothes!

A few months ago I decided that I wasn't going to buy anymore new clothes (apart from socks and bras, don't wear knickers). I now buy all my clothes from charity shops. I only buy good makes that will last and not go out of shape on the first wash. I recently bought a brand new M&S jacket for £7 and brand new Rocha John Rocha trousers for £4.20. They last longer and I don't feel as guilty. Still got too many clothes though. Still not sure about second hand shoes though but I need some boots for winter so I might give it a go.0

Im absolutely terrible for clothes. I regularly purge my wardrobe and its heartbreaking how many brand new clothes (most of them still labelled) I put into the charity bags (all from the bad old catalogue days) However best mate and I are a similar size so she's starting to demand a rifle through my cast-offs before I even think of getting rid of them :rotfl:)
We have four double wardrobes - one for casual tops, one for 'going out' outfits and 'smarter' tops, one for work uniforms and one for trousers.
OH has half the casual top wardrobe (his side consists of rugby shirts/polo shirts and about 6 cotton t-shirts in various colours) a quarter of the 'going out' outfits (3 smart jumpers and 4 shirts) about three pairs of jeans in the trousers cupboard and his work shirts in the uniform one. He has a shelf for socks, a shelf for pants and a shelf for pyjamas.
The rest is mine. And its all perfectly colour-co-ordinated - I get really narked at OH if should DARE to put something back in the wrong place - it drives him mad! Shoes I line up in the spare room but I havent exactly got a lot - a pair of knee-length suede boots for going out when its cold, my going-out Schuh wedges, a pair of gladiator sandals and my sparkly ballet pumps for going out in summer, a pair of strappy heels for formal wear, three pairs of furry-lined boots for winter, five pairs of trainers, a pair of flip-flops and a pair of slippers. OH fails to see the need for all these shoes :rotfl:
My excuse for the clothes is when your my size you dont get a lot of choice so when you see something you like and it fits, it should be snapped up immediately. :rotfl: Thats my excuse and Im sticking to it!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
