Do you have too many clothes? And do you wear them all?

I had to ask myself this question today as I tried to squeeze my latest batch of freshly laundered clothes back into the wardrobe. Little point in ironing them - they all get so squashed up in the wardrobe that they're full of creases again when I need them. And my OH regularly complains that over the length of our marriage he's gradually been squeezed out of virtually every wardrobe in the house. My problem is I can't resist a good bargain in a charity shop

Primrose I asked myself the same question today after I'd bought my 15th hoodie(I'm adicted to hoodies) and a body warmer in the sales:D
I said to my friend I have enough clothes to last me years without the need to buy anymore but it doesn't stop me. I do regularly declutter my wardrobe and sell or charity shop what I dont wear but I always end up replacing what I've thrown out:rolleyes::DDo what you love :happyhear0 -
YES, I do have too many clothes, and NO I don't wear them all(but that's partly because they don't all fit at the moment)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Yes, I do have too many clothes. I always notice this when I come back home after a few days away. I take my best/most comfortable things with me and when I come back, I think, "Why do I need the rest of this stuff?" Usually, I clear out a few things at that point.
However, having just allocated myself a very small budget for clothes, I am beginning to be glad of things I haven't seen for a while. It has forced me to mix and match things in different ways.
For the record, I have half a double wardrobe (well, 60%) and three drawers full of clothes and toiletries. I think that's enough. I have heard of a friend of a friend who had four double wardrobes to herself.0 -
I'm slowly getting there thanks to primark, so easy to pick up something in every colour because it's only £xYes Your Dukeiness0

When I was pregnant, and so had a much smaller amount of wearable clothing I became used to it....and was overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I had after DS (and bump was gone!). I fitted back into my clothes fairly quickly too so it all became a bit of a mess for a while, as had better things to do than sort clothes. I try now to keep my stuff organised and if I buy something (often second hand but in good nick) then I think is there anything I can donate ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Hi, there have been some very good threads on the health, beauty & fashion board, about the subject of too many clothes. I had a clear out a few months ago, and have more space, less clothes, but actually find I have more to wear!
As you can see I am trying very hard not to buy any more at present. I'm also working my way through a huge stash of tolietries, rather than buy anymore.

I seem to hoard clothes that don't fit me "in case they fit again one day".
I have very few clothes and still don't wear many of them cos they don't fit!!0 -

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I usually pack away out of season clothes into trunks in the attic. It gives more wardrobe space for the rest and it's easier to see exactly what you own. And it's a good opportunity when you bring out the stored stuuf to work out what you need new, and what you really shouldn't have bothered keeping, lol.
I did this a couple of weeks back and what with one thing and another (have put on a stone this year, mostly because I can't do anything energetic because of an ongoing back problem) I ended up with about a quarter of a wardrobe full of clothes, three bags for the charity shops and a small pile of things that didn't fit too well but that I didn't want to part with. They went up into the out of season store, and I got to go out shopping for a couple of basics to last me till I lose the weight again. (hahaha...)Val.0
